I've ordered a sleeve from Joli Originals, been using their sleeves for quite a while now and I love them. I've also got the silicone back from Apple, it feels quite nice, but too bulky for me, I rather use the iPad without a back.

I brought a new case for my new iPad Mini 4 from Poetic, and my friend recommends this case for me when I have difficult to make a decision on choosing a case with an excellent design and protected function. I love this case so much. Here is some pics to share......

I bought that same case. It arrived this morning and I've already installed it. All the cutouts work, and all the button covers, such as the power button, are good. I tested it with my grado headphones and that doesn't work, but I suspect the earbuds will be fine.

Edit: the earbuds work fine through the rim of the case.

I went with this for several reasons. I'm leaving on a 3 week trip in 2 weeks, and I needed a functional cover in house ASAP. The Poetic cases for the iPad Air were available immediately and worked well, so I figured the odds were this case would also.

Ms. Butterfingers needs a case that can protect from drops. I've dropped all my iPads at least once (never on purpose) and as a result of protective cases the screens never cracked and they're all still working well years later.

I figured for $18 plus free shipping I could afford to replace the case when there's a better selection. But actually the case has a velvety black finish which looks and feels good. I expect my mini to travel more than my Air, and I expect to use it out of doors more for photos and sketching than the Air. The rim makes It easy for me to get a secure grip. For something like an iPad case form follows function.

^^^^^ Nothing like putting your thin, beautiful mini in an ugly bulky case!

Since I have kids, the case work for me bc of the thick edges for extra protection. They have dropped a few times already and the device remains in perfect condition.

$100+ for an apple case! You gotta be wakko.

So call me wakko. I figured if it didn't knock my socks off, I'd return it. But the case blew me away. It's gorgeous - light and functional. Everything one would expect for that price and from Apple. I say if you can afford it, go for it. Having two pieces is not a drawback as I first thought it would be. It's an added feature. The incredibly strong magnet insures the front cover isn't going anywhere unless you want it to.

Ironically, I ordered the Khomo a couple of days before the Apple having dismissed the latter as too expensive initially. They both arrived today. The Khomo is a nice one piece, sturdy and nice looking. It appears to be a great inexpensive alternative. Now, what do I do with it?!

so you got the silicone front cover and case for mini 4?

Head on over to the Apple store for photos, I can't do any better. They have photos from various angles.

I got charcoal gray front and back to go with my space gray iPad. It looks quite, uh executive, and I couldn't be happier with the match.

@gsusser How do you find the Khomo? Is it the dual case and does the front cover fit perfectly with no overlap?

It is a one piece smart cover - it includes a back cover. It fits very well and is actually more snug than the Apple. The back sort of snaps on. However, it is a bit difficult to remove, though that shows you what a tight fit it is. The front cover fits well also. It looks very similar to the Apple but the quality is obviously not the same. I think it's a great buy for under $20 and highly recommend it.

Thanks. It sounds the same as the JETech which I bought however the front cover of that extends a little too far and I'm trying to find out if this is something they will rectify. If not, I'll get a refund and go for the Khomo as this is the exact type of case I prefer. Can you share any pics of it on at all please?

Ok, I'll do it tonight, NY time

Here you go Donka. The purpose of the photos is to show the case is a good fit.

I have the Jetech case - ordered 3 of them actually in different colours. Nice and slim but will need to wait till the mini arrives tomorrow before I can check the fit. I like the feel of it though for such a cheap case. How does it compare to the other one?
@Donka, can you tell me if the JETech case feels like simulated leather or does it have that rubbery feel that most cases do. The ones that feel like rubber irritate my skin after holding them for a few minutes. Thanks

It's a little hard to describe, the rear of the case is smooth plastic inside with a satin/fine velvet finish on the outside. This rear shell is very thin and doesn't feel or act rubbery at all. The front cover is supposed to look like faux leather but a very cheap version with a similar but not identical feel to the rear. The coating both front and rear does not add any real kind of grip when lying on a smooth surface either as you would expect from a rubbery finish. Hope this somehow helps.
I actually like this case though apart from the overlap of the front cover.

@gsusser Does the Khomo Dual case have that rubberised coating on the rear shell to aid grip? Does it offer some slip resistance when on a table top for example?

Donka, I have not used it all. I only put it on twice. Once when I got it and the second time to take photos for you. Buy it already! -) It's only $18 here (amazon). By the time you make a decision, The mini 14 will be out. -) You definitely get your money's worth. You can return it at no charge (amazon) if you don't like it.

Lol, not quite as simple as that for me. In the UK, it ships from Spain and they don't have stock till the 6th hence the questions as I weigh up other options...

Yeh, I'm sure you will have a local taker. I have a case for just now, I'm just a bit of a perfectionist and like to look at different options so I'll likely pick up the Khomo at some point once it is readily available.

Guys, I need help. I want a decent replacement for the Smart Case. I am prepared to buy a Mini 4. What's holding me up is the case, as crazy as that probably sounds. Throw me a line... ;)

If you like a very slim case in the style of the official smart case then the JETech Gold Serial case is nice and minimalist. The only issue I have is the front cover extends too far. I'm waiting on a revision from the supplier so will feedback once I have seen that to see if I can recommend the case or not.

I got the replacement JETech Gold Serial cases yesterday and the fit is perfect. Magnets also hold the front cover closed front or back for those that require this. It's not the last word in protection since it is such a thin case but I hate to add bulk to my iPads and this is a nice compromise and great value for money.
