You guys should download the app Noir if you like to blacked out web browsing. It’s a paid app but well worth it. It’s nice at night when you flip through webpages and you get a random page that’s mostly white ehr you’re trying to fall asleep.

Highly recommended red mode for presleep viewing:

I picked up a different case (the folio is very thin) and it fits nicely.

is this the unofficial “first impressions” thread?

so far it’s pretty much what i was looking for, a daily media/late night noodler that has the power to do more if/when i have a random idea.

- im not seeing the jelly scroll, i spent 20 mins scrolling back and forth at different speeds last night before realizing once i see it i probably wont unsee it so i stopped looking.

- apple pencil 2 is the big feature for me. i tried to use the pencil on the 5 but it always needed a charge, and i kind of needed a case that kept it close and made the entire footprint bigger and harder to hold. the 2 solves both of those so far

- this is the first ipad that just seems to be begging for magsafe charging. it been on my desk when im working for s few days and ive definitely picked it up to put it on my magsafe stand just out of habit.

- the narrow screen, along with 15’s spacing is kind of annoying to me and i never notice that kind of stuff. it only bothers me on the homescreen though

I taught myself to see it but I only see it when bouncing the scroll up and down. So it is there but it doesn’t bother me for real use. Others are not so lucky.

I also bought the mini 6 as a companion to my M1 12.9 Pro. Prior to this I've had the mini 1, 2 and 4. Got rid of the mini 4 about a year ago, but missed it for reading books. I plan to use the mini6 When out and about, and when i don't want to haul my beloved 12.9 around. I had planned to get the Logitech keys to go, but i'm leaning towards not buying a keyboard at all and instead use the Apple pencil with the excellent keyboard app "Stylus" made by MyScript (they also make the Nebo notepad app). If I'm going to carry a keyboard I might as well just bring the 12.9 instead. Also, I opted for a smart folio from ESR that's basically a clone of the Apple one, but at a quarter of it's price and with the added benefit of a clasp that secures and cover the pencil. So far I'm in love with this setup, but as stated, it's to complement my ipad Pro.

Have you tried just using Scribble mode built into iPadOS and if so, how does it compare? The onscreen keyboard in landscape is too large so I'm looking for an alternative text input besides just rotating to portrait. So far Scribble hasn't been efficient enough. It reminds me of using my old Newton PDAs with a stylus; doable but not particularly pleasant for a large amount of text.

unfortunately I can not use scribble because apple does not support the Swedish language. MyScript Stylus is not completely optimal, but it works surprisingly well in portrait mode. As you say, it reminds of using PDA's back in the day ? and as you also say, Stylus keyboard is only for short e-mails and forum posts.

I’m curious to try the Stylus app you mention. Can’t find it on the App Store though ?.

That's because of the company MyScript has retired it. I had it installed on my earlier iPads and thus I could download it from my history in the app store. Don't know why they removed it, it's a great app.

Follow up on my pockets....

I ordered the ipad mini 256g. and a apple cover. The mini will not be here till Nov 6 or so, but the case arrived today.

So I unwrapped it, kept the foam insert in and tried to put it in my pocket.

AND YUP!!!!!!

Totally fits in my pants front pockets as I hoped. Totally excited now since I will carry this thing with me to so many more places than my ipad pro 12.9.

comics, books, sketching. and more.

If you’re going to sketch with the Apple pencil, make sure there‘s enough room for that whole package (Mini 6, cover, pencil) to fit in your pocket and still have room so that it’s not a tight fit. Otherwise you’ll end up scraping the pencil off the Mini 6.

I am in the same situation with Hasbro's Scrabble game.

Maybe. forgot about that. I need a belt loop for it! ;)
