iPad mini on iPadOS 26 as phone replacement?

several iPhone apps will refuse to install on an iPad (in particular banking apps come to my mind)

For what it’s worth my main bank has an iPad app, and so does one of my credit card/banks. Another credit card (not strictly speaking a banking app, maybe) lacks an iPad app but the iPhone app works fine on my iPad. 🤷‍♂️ Maybe what you describe is specific to certain banks.

I’m probably just gonna wait for the iPhone fold, it seems like it will solve my desire for an iPad-mini sized phone based on the rumors
