I wish I could turn the backlight down even more. In a pitch dark room it gives off too much light still even set on darkest setting.

Whats the standby time on these things if not actually using?? Must be huge :D

According to Steve Jobs, one month. If you give it a full charge, turn it on but don't use it, you could pick it up nearly 30 days later and it would still have charge. That's what he said in the Keynote at least.

Steve Jobs would likely smile if he read this thread. I'm pretty sure this was the vision for the iPad, an information appliance that travels around the house with you all hours of the day. Looks like it worked.

so I woke up this morning and the first thing I did was turn on my iPad. I checked the news, emails, and few websites before I even got up. :D

Anyone else lazy like me and keep the iPad next to your bed?

I also have my beloved iPad right near my bed too! I checked mail and news a few mins after waking up. :)

For years I've kept a MacBook by the bedside and typically surf & e-mail before drifting off to sleep and the same when I wake up, before getting up. I love that. When I get my iPad, no doubt it will serve the same role.

I guess I'm not the only one. :D

I just wish the dimmer went down a little lower - I still feel like I'm getting a sun tan with it set on 0 in a pitch black room.
