So let's see Apple releases the mighty iPad 2 months prior to the new iPhone and now the iPad is outdated! Nice to see Apple put out a product at this price point that is now inferior to the iPhone.

Way to go Apple , how about your r&d teams working together since they share the same os

Oh that's right , it will now be another 3 months before we even share the operating system.

This is ridiculous , first the iPhone gets a much better display , now word comes out they are using 512mb of ram too. You've got to be kidding me , they can't share research and development info ? Seriously ?

Im glad I'm within my 2 week return window on my 3rd iPad due to returns with previous problems.

I'll wait for ipad2 , whenever that is ?

I do not get the mentality of waiting.

If you want the device, and the device delivers what you require, why wait? The next gen is always better and why not wait until 10th generation?

Get it, use it, upgrade later.

It would have been nice for Apple to add somethings to the iPad, at the very least the gyro. I really see no reason why they did not. However if you have an iPad and feel ripped off just sell it. Plenty of buyers willing to take it off your hands for almost what you paid for it. My cousin is foaming at the mouth waiting to buy mine.

Whilst the new iPhone is great with it's retina display and 512mb of memory, it's still a small device and less usable for the primary role that iPad is designed for - Content delivery. iPhone internet is great for a quick look, but I wouldn't want to spend hours on it.

+1^
Also, its not fair to compare an iPad with an iPhone IMO,both are different devices.

I don't get it. First of all the iphone isn't that nice, IT STILL HAS A SMALL SCREEN. I don't care if it's 10million by 10million resolution, it's still a little smartphone screen. The iphone serves its purpose but the new screen will be nice to look at for about 2 minutes until it becomes normal.

Sure the ipad is a big touch, we all know that. But the reason it exists is because IT HAS A LARGER SCREEN. There is no way the new iphone outdates the ipad, I just don't get that statement. Really only the Rev2 ipad *might* outdate our ipads.

But then why not wait for the 11th gen, of course no apple product has survived this long though

Well let's see. There is no alternative to the iPad at this time and the iPad is perfect for what I want to do right now. I tried the iPod touch but the screen was too small. It doesn't matter how great the screen looks, it's too small for other than occasional web browsing.

I'm really loving the iPad right now. It was great for two weeks in my RV, it's handy to have around the house, and I can't wait to take it on my next trip.

The point isn't wether or not the iPad works in it's current form , it does , very well. The point is how come Apple couldn't put a larger ram into a much more expensive device ? Both of these products have been in development for quite some time, so why is it Apple can't share r&d for their own products. Why would they release 2 products within 2 months of each other based on the same os and yet the cheaper product gets superior hardware.

Try addressing the question at hand , I didn't ask anyone if the iPad worked ,
Stop being fanbois and try telling me with intellect why Apple shouldn't have put 512mb into the iPad too ? And why do we have to wait till September for iOS4 ?

Are you so sure there won't be an update to the iPad sooner than you think ? I say the update WONT be 1yr. They aren't going to announce a new iPad a month after Christmas. My money is on the early update for Christmas , otherwise why would anyone want one for Christmas when it would be updated in a couple of months.

Why are you pixel peeping? It's not like the iPad is running slow is it? It is VERY fast!

Btw, if the cycle is true, there is still a good 10 months before the NEXT gen is released. You can wait all you want, i am using my happily for the next 10 months.

The iPAd isn't much more expensive. AT 16gb the iPAd costs $499 and the iPhone costs $599.

Profit.

so just because you are pissed since the iPhone has more memory, should I be pissed because the iPhone doesnt have a big screen?;)

I dont know if you dont realize, but the iPad is very fast, more memory could be nice for things such as multitasking, but I dont think that the iPad would benefit as much from multitasking as much as the iPhone would. I dont no about you guys, but I hate having to turn off a game to answer texts.

As for me, Ill have both, iPad WiFi for home uses such as forums and internet, MacBook for the heavy stuff such as homework or video editing, and iPhone 4 for on the go. Best of all worlds :)

No I'm not here to tell anyone how to feel or make anyone feel bad about their purchase. It is a wonderful product , I'm just a little disappointed in Apple.

I don't care if anyone agrees with me or not , just venting a little.

You do understand the Apple business model, right? Anyone who has purchased one of their products realizes how they make their money. Incremental upgrades unleashed slowly on loyal fans willing to overpay for what could have easily been included on last years model, or even the one before that.

If you don't understand that you should avoid Apple products, and maybe most tech products which follow the same businessnmodel, hey how about cars?

Why is it so difficult for anyone to understand that Apple was working on BOTH products at the same time ! We aren't talking about 2 different companies and we aren't talking 6 months apart either. They have been working and planning both for a long time. So ....WTF , why not incorporate the 512mb of ram in both ?

Maybe they were keeping the 512mb a suprise?
