@Robert,

Fair enough. I too am a photographer. More experienced amateur than professional. I use my iPad when traveling as simply a dumping ground for my photos. I don't even bother to edit them because I know I have a 17 inch MBP at home that does this duty. So when I read about people complaining (excluding you ok) that the iPad is not this or that tends to illustrate in my book that they were clueless regarding their purchase.

Ok, peace lol

I can agree with that. I travel in my Recreationam Vehicle (RV) and do some computer work evenings because a lot of RV campgrounds have Wi-Fi and I can catch up on my email and look at an image or two to see if I can pull some shadow detail out of an underexposed area (not that I do that often lol).

Peace brother and enjoy both your camera and iPad.

Robert

If you use the camera kit to dump photos on the iPad while on vacation but then later want to remove them from the iPad, can you do that? How?

+1 ....

For the MAJORITY of people the iPad is a wonderful trveling device.

I understand being passionate about photography as I enjoy it too but I have no problem waiting till I get home to edit and share pics.

No big deal to most of us. :)

2 things

1. Jealous the OP has a camera connection kit ... Mine is a 5 week back order (2 weeks left!)

2. OP post seem like someone talking to themselves? Is it just me? :)

If I had an RV I'd take both. The device is not supposed to eliminate anything. For pure content consumers, I think it could, but why limit. iPads are cheap. Its a tool for a job, but not all jobs.

If you need a way to manipulate photographs on a trip, then the iPad is not for you. However, many just need a place to store and view photographs until we get to our home computers. When I'm traveling the last thing on my mind is LightRoom, layers, noise reduction or upload sizes. For me, all I want is a place to dump my pictures and view them to weed out the stinkers. The iPad does this for me.

Personally, i'll keep my 7 pound 17 inch uMBP at home and take the iPad that cost 1/4 as much, weighs 1/5 as much and can do everything that I want.
