I would like to see Apple address the issue with Safari when multiple pages are open it has to reload pages when switching from one to the other, even if content has not changed.

this is not necessarily just a memory issue that cannot be fixed. Other browser's behaviors with tabs, like Atomic Web Browser do not reload it's tabs as a user changes between them.

And, obviously, the wifi issues some have.

Also, I expect an update pretty darn soon.

I think it is a memory issue. They could implement cacheing with the flash memory, but that may suck up a little more power. It would be nice to have a "use flash memory for cache" option in settings though. Wifi issues for sure. If they could make the iPod app not freeze for 5 seconds every time I try to search for something, that'd be a plus too.

Also using flash to cache is not a good idea for the part. Flash tends to deteriorate with use, 100k cycles per cell ....and you start to see issues.... This is a last minute suggestion. They should of given the iPad 512mb......this was a given.

They need to:

1- Fix Wifi Issues
2- Solve extremely slow Youtube vids.
3- Add more international keyboards like arabic for instance (just like the ipod/iphone).

Thats all I want right now.

I would like Chapter Marker support across all video formats, rather than just for movies. Don't know why this wasn't implanted as it exists on all other Apple Devices.

Youtube videos have always been a pain point for me, whether on my iPhone, Macbook, or iPad. Even at home with my wireless network and 12Mbps line it will studder and not load properly. I'd more likely blame Youtube's bandwith than the devices.

I really don't think it is. Quite a few years ago I could have multiple browser windows open on a Windows XP machine with only 256MB of RAM. Probably a lot less javascript and images back then but still, I'm pretty sure WinXP uses more RAM than iPhoneOS.

In reality, at the time that the flash-memory has been used over 100k writes-deletes/cell, your ipad would have been replace 10 times for a new battery.
And we'd probably at iPad 6 then.

I read there as an app out yesterday which did tabs

Cant see it being a memory problem considering some of the cool games like Mirrors Edge, I mean its only a tab!!!!!!

Also when you delete mails they go on top of each other etc.

Coverflow on iphone must be more ram intensive then tabs!!!

-Dvorak keyboard

Really dude? Dvorak? I actually thought about this the other day-the fact that its a software keyboard makes it easy to do different keyboards. But there'd be no point in Apple doing that. Pretty much only supernerds know about/how to use Dvorak. Which isn't exactly their number one market.

-Allow deletion of synced photos
-Customizable Keyboard
-File Space on the Ipad for "anyfile" USB Tranfer to and from ipad
-USB Drivers so devices can hook up yo the ipad
-Fix Crashing and Memory problems

:apple:

Meh, it's obviously not a big deal, but it allows for a hardware Dvorak keyboard, as well as a couple alternate layouts for the software one (such as AZERTY).

That's because your desktop computer has a hard drive that is appropriate for virtual memory. I can tell you for a fact that a computer running WinXP with only 256MB of RAM was constantly swapping data between RAM and hard disk, which is not a good thing to do on a mobile device with a relatively slow CPU and a battery.

Try running XP on a machine with 256MB of RAM and 0 free space on the hard drive and you'll have an even comparison (spoiler: XP will barely run, if at all).

Yeah but isn't paging how they are doing the multi-tasking in os4.0. It "saves the state" of an application so you can resume it where you left off. Def the best way to handle it on a portable device if you ask me. Leaving everything in Ram is a bad practice and partly what slows things down.

Like previously mentioned, Atomic browser supports multiple desktop like tabs without reloading, background tab loading, and bookmark import. Also has gesture support. Not sure why safari can't do it. AB has a few bugs right now but the developer is very responsive to bug reports.

1 and 2 are my biggest issues so far. I also wouldn't mind a refined keyboard (tab key, etc.)

You mean caching into virtual memory? Although I can't speak for 4.0, 3.2 does not have virtual memory. One of the reasons being, flash memory (as opposed to iPad's 256 MB RAM) has a finite write cycles. So as to extend the lifetime of flash memory, Safari does not commit something as transient as web page cache into it.

- Give users the option to decide if YouTube loads the HD or standard quality version of the video by default. Automatically streaming the HD version slows loading times - a lot of the time I'd rather stream the standard res video if it buffers faster.
- Safari tab reloads

The 3GS has 256mb and doesn't refresh as often as iPad does; which suggests its a software issue, not a lack of memory issue.

The 3.2.1 update will be out pretty soon, Apple as far as I remember, almost always release the first update pretty quickly.

The WiFI with DHCP issues are serious issues that needs to be fixed right away, as well as some brightness issue.

I think what Apple is trying to do is figure out a way to fix the bugs without increasing the power demand and that can take a long time to test.

As for not caching to Flash due to cell's lifespan for writes, that's not a problem that'll show up for years. The iPad's battery will die way before the flash.

surprised we have not seen this update yet...

... as well as some brightness issue..

I think the iPad should be more bright, like my ipod Touch. Is this what you mean with brightness issues?

(but more bright probably means less battery time, right?)
