iPadOS Beta 3 is out so I will try to get some more testing in later this evening. I don't have my iPad at work so I can't update it now.

Apple hasn't been symmetrical with regard to the iPad for quite a while... especially when it comes to bezels.

I think if they would add a 2nd USB-C port (I highly doubt it) it would need to be on the long edge opposite the side of the volume rocker. They also need to move the front-facing camera to the long edge on the side of the volume rocker. Apple's cases and covers only allow for the iPad to stand in landscape mode and yet they continue to keep the camera oriented for portrait mode use.
Yeah, I wish it was there for Face ID because I always cover it with my fingers. I don't use FT much.

I think they'd have to put the second USB-C port on the opposite short-side but remove the physical volume rocker buttons. If they do that it would be great to get a second Face-ID camera as well, either on the short side or preferably one of the long sides.

My dream is an iPad Pro with an under screen Face-ID camera so it is never covered and I'm looking at the right place when I FaceTime!

Has any one tested playing/streaming a >4gb video file from external storage?

I’ve tried in the files app and it seems to fail.

I tried using my own app and attempting to play the url, and that too fails. Works fine on files smaller than 4gb.

I’m thinking the exfat implementation is slightly broken, but I’ll need to play around with the Apple formats to confirm that. I was just wondering if anyone else had tried?

What are the latest and greatest thoughts on the HyperDrive 6-in-1 USB-C Hub — for iPad Pro 2018/2020 (HDMI 4K60Hz)?

Yes, what is Apple’s USB-C with fewer ports? $69.00? I had a cabled Hyper-Drive that I passed on to kid who needed to use an external LCD monitor for the shelter at home thing. I was never happy with it as it was very slow transferring .jpeg’s to my iPad. I really never used it for anything else. I have an Audioquest amp./DAC for headphones. The Apple adaptor was must faster for .jped imports!

What I’m really looking for is pass-through power and fast .jpeg imports to my iPad 2018 Pro. I did order it and will let everyone know as an update to what has already been posted. I can always return it. Once downside is firmware upgrades as I have read in some of these threads. Hyper-Drive wants the user to upgrade using USB-C via a computer, not an iPad. Either Mac OS or Windows. I wonder why the iPad can’t do an firmware update. Apple‘s iOS I guess?

One of the downsides of iOS - I have several devices that get f/w updates over USB and iOS can't do it.

I do have a Late 2015 iMac. It does not have USB-C of course. Hyper-Drive support via Chat told me they have had “some success” updating the Hyper-Drive via my suggestion/idea of using a USB-A to USB-C cable. I don’t think I’d bet the bank on that.

The Chat guy did say that new Hypers should have the newest updates. But of course eventually, depending on what Apple does a firmware update is probably going to happen. I love my iPad. But there seems to be so many work arounds with iOS. I do love a challenge!

From my Chat with Hyper-Drive support

“11:15:56 PM) Joseph: We don't expect any further updates unless Apple reworks its power delivery workings again. That is what caused the first update. And we have had success with a USB-A male to USB-C female adapter for updates to a Mac, so that would work.” Well at least Hyper-Drive understands the future potential issues. Do MacBooks have similar challenges from 3rd party docks?

Please know I’m not complaining, just navigating to the best solutions.
