Well I'm at the Starbucks at 8442 sw 8th st 33144 posting from my 16W. Check it out using street view.

There is a gentleman with a Gateway laptop here. Other than that nothing else I see.

Where are you? :D

Someone walked in with one, "hey you got one too" and sat down next to me with his. We chatted it up for a while :D

I suppose with them being so new most people might be a bit weary of pulling them out in public. Especially after that guy lost a finger when some b*****d mugged him for his iPad. Like all tech though, the more people buy it the more comfortable people will feel using it out and about.

Only seen two in the wild so far; both a work. One was an Olympus rep using it for a running Powerpoint demo during our big show last weekend. And the other was a customer showing his pictures to another customer.

Haven't taken mine outside of work or home as of yet.

This morning on my flight from San Juan to Atlanta there was someone across the aisle with a Kindle who kept eyeing me, but in first class you are not bothered with random people compared to coach.

I've seen at least 2. One in Santa Monica CA, a guy outside a medical building. And another in Chicago IL in a Star Bucks. When mine arrives Wednesday I'll be out and about with it!:p

I don't understand why strangers can't mind their own damn business. It seems everyone here who takes out their iPad in public has to deal with these nosy idiots.

I have used mine in public one time. Materials for a class were given to us as 30 separate files, no printed material, so I thought I'd save some paper and use my iPad instead. The iPad performed perfectly for this purpose. However, I ended up spending a lot of time dealing with busybodies who think it's OK to bother a total stranger and waste his time with idiotic questions. These people knew what an iPad was and were interested in the concept, but none of them had bothered to spend even one minute on the Apple website learning the basic info and they all thought it was OK to impose on me to bring them up to speed on the iPad's features.

I'm was too polite to tell them to leave me alone, but next time I don't think I'll be so accommodating and then I will be the one looking like the bad guy. "Elitist Apple jerkoff," they'll probably think.

Lol. Yeah. I know many cities here where you take that kind of attitude with someone, and then you leave and start down some street or alley and might come out iPadless. I agree with another poster that said there are those individuals that will carry it around to show it off but then start getting all stupid when people start asking questions or start watching. WTF did you expect to happen?

One round trip from Dulles to LAX, a week in LA for business and I have not seen another IPad in any flavor. Also, everyone who wanted a peek of mine got one with their questions cheerfully answered.

I am on both sides of the coin on this. Love my gadgets. And love to get feedback from those that have a gadget I have lusted after, and don't mind sharing if I have the time a gadget that I own that others lust over.

But the way I approach is different than many folks, I'll say something like I saw your XYZ... have a moment to share your thoughts about it? That gives them a chance to say something along the lines of - It is everything I hoped for, but sorry pressed for time - or they might like gushing over it. :) LOL And I prefer that approach from others as well.

I'm in my local Barnes & Noble, just surfing. Every now and then, I look around to see random people giving me the look.
