Best way to pick up an LTE iPad (and save some cash) is to try and grab one off eBay or craigslist. That's what I did.

I ended up buying an Open Box Certified iPad from Best Buy on Sunday (literally looks like someone opened the box and then decided to return it. Looks brand new). They knocked an additional amount off of the already $100 discounted sale price. Was able to get a 256 SG 10.5 for a hell of a price.

I am noticing a little bit of the "eye fatigue" thing I have read on here, but I love the iPad so I'll see if my eyes adjust and get used to it or not. I have a month to return it if needed, so we will see how it goes.

how much were they able to knock off?

I may pick up the 256 GB. I wonder how people feel knowing that the iPad is being discounted so fast after some people on this thread purchased theirs when it was first released.
I got $52 off my 10.5” from Walmart on release week.

Got a 12.9 64GB open box for $657, but had to drive 35 minutes, passing 2 other stores, to get it. Guy had to go in back 3 times before he found it. Hadn't planned on getting the big one but thought I would try it for a couple of weeks. It is already used, after all. It's plugged in but losing power while restoring apps. I have it charging on an older iPad charger, a big one.

Pretty solid! Almost $150 off!

Cleaned up at Best Buy this week:
iPad Pro 12.9, 256, Sliver: $751 - $149 off.
ASK for $132 - $37 off
Apple Pencil: $82 - $18 off

On the other hand, they got #1,030 of my hard earned $.
My plan is this will be my mobile tech while my MBP will stayed docked to my 27” monitor and extended keyboard.

Just can't make myself decide!
  • I'm pretty sure I only want the 10.5 as I want to use it while walking around at work.
  • I'm pretty sure I want 256k because, storage.
  • I'm not sure I want cellular because even with my TMO One plan, it's an extra $20 a month on the top of the initial cost bump.
  • Finally, I can't freaking decide on a color.

FWP!

I got the 10.5 because the 12.9 is too unwieldy for me. I have a 64gb air 2 and only use half the storage but I got the 256gb pro because for $100 more why not? My air 2 has lte and I've never used it. Listen to your heart on the color :)

It's called Labor Day back to school sales happens, uhh every year. Like Black Friday or Boxing Day etc.

"with 2 year contract"? If so, that's not really a discount....
Of course it is, if you have no plans to change carrier.

The discount was also enough to get me to buy one. I know it’s the first day of me having it, but I think this is quickly going to become my favorite device. The speed, display, speakers, portability, build quality, and software truly make it an amazing device. I don’t want to put it down. Been experimenting with using it with so many things: Web browsing, watching videos/Netflix, reading/eBooks, catching up on news, drawing, photo editing, video editing, music production, and I’ll be using it to take notes and study. Should make my notes more visually appealing and I won’t have to worry about saving space on paper or carrying around a notebook and a bunch of different pens and pencils. Love this thing. Kinda worried now that the 64GB model I got won’t be enough though, even though I have 200GB cloud storage.

And the sale is over...

Ive seen rolling BB back to school deals in the past where one week the iPads are on sale, then the MacBooks, then again the iPads for a few weeks usually till the end of Sept. Then obviously Black Friday...

That's just regular carrier discount with 2-yr contract, though. One could have ordered the new LTE iPads upon release at the same price as long as they're willing to lock themselves to a carrier for 2 years (or end up paying more than MSRP after ETF).

In my world $200 is $200, perhaps it's different for you. As I said "if you have no plans to change carriers"
