I just got mine last night. Bought 256gb model with 4G LTE. Very happy so far. Update battery life and bugs later on.

4G LTE Verizon reception has been amazing so far in LA and Orange County. Bought mine unlocked from Apple Store at full price. Wifi reception is also pretty good. Call quality for FaceTime calls is amazing

Does split view affect it badly? Mine was at 53% this morning and I had about an hour of split work with youtube on the left and safari in the right and it killed my battery really fast

Btw why doesn't youtube let you do PiP?

I would think it kills it because you’re runnin two intense apps at the same time.

iOS 11 on my 3rd full charge.

Yes I know I use Facebook too much

Facebook drains badly. I would never install that app on my iPad

That Facebook app has so many tracking cookies it is ridiculous. Never stops running in the background. Probably the worst when it comes to privacy invasion. Look at your Safari website browser history to see how many cookies are in there from Facebook.

I think if one has Facebook or uses Facebook they need to have a dedicated device just to use Facebook and not use that smartphone, tablet, notebook computer or desk top computer for anything else.

Hasn’t done my battery any harm as my battery stats are much better than my Ipp 9.7 and quoted times from Apple. This is also on iOS 11 beta 2.

I’ve gotten pretty good battery on iOS 11 beta 2
I noticed that when I have the background app refresh turned on it sucks battery a lot. Especially the YouTube app did "something" in the background, so that I lost 10% over night while in airplane mode. What is your experience with the background refresh and YouTube in particular? What's your setting? Have it now turned off and battery seems to perform way better. Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks

Not in my experience actually. Background app refresh is on for all the apps including YouTube and facebook, the biggest battery hogs, and i still get fantastic battery life as shown above.

For some reason in all honesty I find the new battery life on my iPad Pro 10.5 to be a bit worse compared to my older 9.7 iPad Pro

I'm not seeing fantastic battery times and that along with the slow charging times is not a good.

I have to say, the battery life hasn't blown me away so far. I just unpacked mine earlier, it was at 68% out of the box. I installed some stuff and played one (1) Hearthstone game and it got just under 50%.

I'll see more tomorrow. Otherwise, I really like the tablet, but browsing in Safari is not that much better compared to my old Mini 2. There's still the "freeze frame" effect when switching into it, and it still stutters when scrolling.

Other observations - I got iOS 11 (the primary reason for getting this iPad), and the night mode switch is nowhere to be found. I looked in the settings too, it's not there.

The iOS 11 task switcher is miles better than before, but actual multitasking, I expected much more compared to the Mini, considering 4Gb vs 1Gb. There's still a lot of reloading of stuff.

I got the Logitech Slim Combo keyboard, and while I'm not used to the backrest - I liked this aspect in the Logitech keyboard on the Mini more, it just magnetically set the tablet in viewing position - the keyboard itself is fantastic. Near desktop quality typing. Backlit too. Not requiring manual charge and turning on/off is also a big plus.

I didn't get a pencil, I don't draw and I don't see any use for it.
Night mode?

I need some help. I continue to have issues with YouTube. The app sucks battery, even though the iPad is in airplane mode. If you look at the screenshot you see how much it works in the background. Doing what??? Last night I put it to sleep, today after a workday it lost about 20-25% battery. The fix is to simply turnoff the background app refresh. Therefore my 2 questions: 1)Is it a pure software/app issue or could it be that something is wrong with my hardware (you would think that the iPad tells the app to should up and stop trying)? 2) Is there any reason for YouTube to refresh in the background (if I turn it off, what would I loose)? Thank you advance.

I would turn off refresh and if you have an iPad with cellular service I would turn that off too for Youtube. Best just to go to the website if you really need to and pass on app.

Actually, isn't the usage time "inflated" by iOS?

If you try to add up the top battery consuming apps, it is only four hours usage. The extra six hours are probably from your iPad waking from notifications and background updates. My iPad does the same thing unless it is placed in airplane mode.

So technically you used your iPad over 2 days for 4 hours and have ~40% battery left. That's normal.

TL;DR: your iPad is working as it should with normal battery life.

YouTube probably refreshes your subscription feed automatically before you launch the app with background refresh on.

For me, the YouTube usage persists even with background refresh off sometimes. Unless I put the iPad in airplane mode.

And even when I do, Siri sometimes does the same thing. I suspect it might be an underlying iOS issue.

I really wanted to adopt this approach but I find the website an inferior experience.

I'm having poor battery life on 10.5 ipad pro. If I use for little bit 20% is gone. Youtube hogs battery a lot and also Photos. I tried to screen capture for 10 minutes over period of an hour and I am down to 77%. Even just reading off of Notes app it drains battery. It is nowhere close to my old iPad Air. It think I am getting somewhere 4-5 hour usage out of it.

Something is wrong with your device.
