Macrumor's buyer's guide has the neutral tag on the 10.5 and 12.9 iPad Pro. Is it worth buying right now or to wait until the next release?

The rumor is new non-pros. Get a pro now and wait for the next-next ones. I haven’t seen apps that push the hardware since they are all written for iPad-regular. Today’s iPad Pro is future proof because it will be more powerful than regular iPads for many years. Get the 10.5 if you intend to hold it lying down, the 12.9 I can’t reach g or h with my thumbs. Needs a soft keyboard layout with a gap in the middle!

10.5 is worth it if you can get a good price on one instead of full retail like someone else mentioned. I bought mine on Swappa and managed to save a little over $200 on it vs buying for full retail. It’s in mint condition too with several months left on the warranty.

I'm seeing the Pros available from some third party sites new for less than what apple.com sells it for. I'm considering upgrading from my Mini 4 which has occasionally been acting up. I would still keep the mini for ebook reading.

I don't know...I picked up a 10.5 iPP yesterday (couple of hundred dollars off MSRP) but I want the headphone jack and did not want face recognition or an edge to edge screen (just my preferences so please don't blast me). I can't think of anything I'll be using it for that it won't be More than capable of for a long while to come. I'm trying to go paperless, print magazineless, etc., as well as using the Apple pencil compatibility and filing functions, and hope to make this my tidy little personal organizer and manager that syncs up with the rest of my macs. The Only thing I'll probably yearn for on the new one is that reported OLED screen but damn!...this one's pretty nice so as long as I stay away and don't look at one I'll never know what I'm missing. Same reason I won't test drive a Corvette or Porsche. lol

Aren't their new ones coming in June? or is it September?

No new iPad Pros are expected until at least Q3 2018.

There's a rumor the cheaper non-pro models will get a refresh. Ben Bajarin thinks there's even a chance Apple will make Apple Pencil available to the cheaper non-pro iPad models this year as an education/enterprise play (Vector episode 82: https://www.imore.com/vector).

Based on the fact Rene recorded a March Apple event podcast this week, I think something is certainly going to happen. He has good sources at Apple.

I think you’re going to be waiting for a while for new iPad Pros. I expect they’ll be coming in the fall, maybe October or November.

I have an iPad Air (32 GB White) since 2013. Is it worth it to upgrade to an iPad Pro (10.5" 256 GB) given the current Amazon price (US$674.00 as of today)?

If you have a Micro Center store nearby, they are having a "limit one per household, in-store only" sale of the 10.5" 64 GB iPad Pro for $500.

I had wondered how you saw such a good deal that I missed. But I insist on the cellular model, which I ordered Friday for $879 new 256GB from another site.

Ahh okay. Recently gave my Pro to a family member and it was a big mistake. Miss that thing and I keep stalking rumors for the next one. Q3 is so damn far..

If I just gave up a pro and were waiting, I’d get an android tablet. See what’s up with that for a while.

I am grabbing the Microcenter deal after reading about it here. For $150 off, look at it that I wouldn’t lose as bad if I wanted to sell it and upgrade when the new model comes out.

Well.. There aren’t any good Android tablet in the market. All the Android tablet available on market are kind terrible. The main problem with Android tablet is there are not good tablet apps. I don’t see how Android tablet can pull off.

With tablet, it is all iPad or windows based tablet. I have all iPad Pro, probably will get Surface sometime later.

Rene does not have sources inside Apple, I believe it’s Mark Gurman you are referring to, Rene is an Apple fan who like the rest of us guesses and goes off of what Apple have done in the past.
[doublepost=1520359191][/doublepost]I would wait tho, the iPad Pro is said to get a redesign this year with Face ID thinner bezels and the removal of the home button.

I think you'd lose more than $150 in resell but, a sale certainly helps narrow the gap.

Rene definitely has sources, just different to Gurman. He has form for setting correct expectations about new Apple events, no new Mac Pros, no new laptops when speculation has built about it, no new 4K/5k Apple branded monitors, and getting direct quotes and informstion from and when Apple is managing a PR crisis. He doesn't leak information he knows Apple definitely don't want getting out such as spoiling surprises, which is different to Gurman, but I'm sure he gets plenty of tip offs.

Thats a great deal. Its like you paid $100 more over the 2017 iPad. The holidays had them around the same price.

I got my iPad Pro 10.5 inch 512 GB for $700 with a sale. I like it a lot. Owned it for at least 4 months.
