Received mine yesterday. I hadn't taken a close look at the iPad Pros in size, but since my Mini 4 has been acting up at times, I decided to go bigger this time. (I've had a previous 9.7" iPad).

Glad I didn't go with the 12.9". It is going to be an adjustment again to go to the 10.5". Guess I was more used to the mini size than I expected.

Nicer for reading magazines than the mini, where i used "text" mode for articles.

Some pretty good guesses then if that's what you want to believe. :D

It wasn't just Rene who came up with the guesses, there was a guy on his Vector show who said about the cheaper iPad and even a cheaper MacBook Air that may get a retina display. You can believe that he has inside sources but he doesn't that's Mark Gurman from Bloomberg and even he isn't 100% all of the time.

Yes it was Ben Bajarin who mainly did the speculation about the iPad with Apple Pencil support.

Rene definitely has sources and is on good terms with Apple people. He was invited to greet Tim Cook at a sports game not so long ago.

I suspect Rene heard from a few birdies the event was happening and that's why he recorded that particular podcast. Whether he knew anything about the actual products expected to be announced, who knows, but probably not.

Mark Gurman doesn't do so well anymore as Gruber has noted numerous times.

Rene has been sent an invite to the event, the other guy was the one speculated about a cheaper Air with a retina display, if that happened lots of people would buy it especially students as they love the Air. Even tho this is an education event (clearly stated by Apple in the invite) i still think some product announcements are likely otherwise why invite people like Rene, Serenity Cladwell, Scott Stein and the editor of the Verge all of which are tech reporters and or editors.

Yes Gurman has been less so since he left 9to5 Mac.

There has been heaps of speculation and discussion this week across the Apple podcasts I listen to about that refreshed MacBook Air. Talk Show with Gruber, Accidental Tech Podcast, Upgrade, they've all pondered whether it will happen. I'm still not convinced we'll ever see a Retina MacBook Air, but I absolutely agree with you it would be a hot product - especially with students if it's at the right price point.

You can expect new iMacs too since I ordered a new one yesterday for the office!

So we won't know whether or not the new iPad PRO 12.9" 2018 will be released this month until next Tuesday?

they won't announce new iPad Pro's next week, it's an educational event at the most the entry level iPad could be updated and maybe a new (and long rumoured) MacBook or MacBook Air update but i don't see anything else being updated. They may not even announce any products at this event, they did the same in the 2012 educational event.

I am waiting for a new iPad PRO 12.9" 2018, Apple Pencil 2 and new MBP with a better keyboard.

I'm now more and more likely to consider the iPad Pro 10.6" (256 GB WiFi). With 4 GB of RAM and the reasonably fast A10X SoC, the current iPad Pro 10.6" won't go obsolete anytime soon.

If you have a Micro Center store nearby, they are having a "limit one per household, in-store only" sale of the 10.5" 64 GB iPad Pro for $500.
I just noticed that they have expanded this in-store only sale to the 256 GB model, $150 off so for $650. These are the wi-fi only models.

My personal opinion is to wait until WWDC to see if they do anything with it. If not find a deal at Best Buy or something.

Love mine iPads 10.5 and 12.9 pros... got the 10.5 recently and the cellular model... so nice! I am not going to wait, if a new one comes out in the summer these things holds their value well, plus, like many also think Face ID is not optional for and iPAD in just my opinion.... I take the 10.5 everywhere and it can do about everything (except heavy task, programming) :). Can loose either way!

Assuming updates in June or September, will it be for both 10.5 and 12.9 models simultaneously?
