I have the same problem. The lower volume button does not work. I brought it to Apple store for diagnosis yesterday. The said that they will first inspect the unit for 3-5 days. If a hardware fault is found, they will replace the unit. However, it will take 3 to 5 weeks before the new unit arrives.

I'll keep you updated.

Wow that makes me happy I simply returned my Ipad Pro 12.9 2017 to Costco, and makes me more inclined to wait for Samsung to come out with a new improved Tab S2, because the Tab S3 didn't impress me, and... 3 to 5 weeks!...plus they want to "inspect the unit" for 3-5 days to see if they can just tell you there's nothing wrong with it and give it back to you the way it was! It should take two seconds to inspect a broken volume control. Thats how long it took the guy at the Apple store to look at mine and tell me, yep it's broken. Duh.

They should get rid of that crummy mechanical volume control and make it electronic.
