10.5 Pro for me. I often use my Apple Pencil for both journaling and coloring. Coping mechanisms. :) I also enjoy the 4 speakers for gaming and music, of which I both use. Having 2 speakers again would bother me.

I currently get A base iPad 6th gen for trying out. I plan to upgrade if I decide I want to use an iPad extensively.

Maybe iPad Pro 10.5” has promotion display and more speakers as well as Better camera, but one thing holds me back: cellular support. Being able to use mobile data when applicable is a huge deal for me, especially when wifi is not an option. Personal hotspot is not the answer as I often have a hard time trying to connect to my iPhone wirelessly.
Refurbish store does not sell cellular version sadly in Australia. This base iPad is not enough for some more serious use while iPad Pro is too expensive. I figure I just keep using iPad for 2 weeks and then decide.
Interesting. In Canada and the US, the cellular iPad Pro is available on the Apple refurb store, although it sells out from time to time.

My bad. I just notice there are cellular version iPad sold in apple refurb store in Australia. Unfortunately no iPad Air 3, just iPad mini 4 and iPad 6th gen. $100 off compared to the new product.

I decided to upgrade from the Ipad mini 2 and went to Best Buy. I saw that the Ipad Air was on sale for $619 for the 256GB. I went to Costco the next day and saw that they had the Ipad Pro 10.5 256GB for $500! I bought it and returned the Air back to Best Buy.

I also bought my iPad Pro at Costco for $500. It’s a steal in my opinion. Also bought it with my credit card that doubles the manufacturers warranty so I basically got AppleCare+ without the accidental coverage for free.

I also was looking to see if they had the Smart Keyboard for sale as well since they have the crazy return policy so if anything ever happened to it I’d just bring it back for a refund / exchange but they didn’t have any for sale.

It looks Apple is using Costco as one of its partners to sell off old stock, and not just in the US.

In Canada the 256 GB iPad Pro 10.5" was for sale for CAD$599.97 / US$445 at Costco:

Also, Costco Canada was selling the old version of the AirPods for cheap too.

Picked up a gold and a SG 64GB 10.5" today at Walmart for $299 each. Already have a 11", but my wife has been bugging me about getting "an iPad I can use Procreate with" for a few weeks now. Was also able to snag the 10.5 ASK for $79 via Target.

Now the real question: what to do with the extra 10.5 ha. I actually bought a 10.5 LTE 256GB when it first came out, but sold it to a friend to get my 11" late last year. If Apple drops support for iPad Air 2 (kids have them) with iOS 13, that means it's almost time to upgrade.

That's an awesome deal. Wish that was available in my area.

Ya, it was pure luck. Oddly, I needed to work from home today. Decided to take a chance on heading to my local Walmart (2mi away). At first the clerk said "no more iPad Pros, some guy just bought the last one". I asked her politely to look again. She dug up another, Space Gray. I immediately bought it when she said it was $299. I asked her if she would look in the back for any more. Five minutes later she came back with a Gold. As I was checking out with the gold, another shopper (tipped off via slickdeals like me) came up behind me asking for the clearance 10.5". I had gotten the last two.. but been on the short end of this stick plenty of times :)

I just got an Air 3 after owning an Air 2 for 4 years. I haven’t used the Pro 2 in depth but I personally haven’t noticed the lack of ProMotion (of course I don’t have a pencil). The speakers sound AMAZING and are louder and clearer than the Air 2, but stereo speakers would be nice. The camera is better than on the Air 2 by a little bit, so if you want a good camera I would consider getting the Pro.

The biggest benefit for me is Bluetooth 5, which the pro doesn’t have. I can walk all around the house with my AirPods in and there’s no drop in signal.

Air if you are concerned about the possibility of the Pro suffering from the white spot defect.

Of course it doesn’t mean that the Air is issue free, but there are no known issues at the moment.

Only reason I’d go Air would be for its ability to lay flush on a flat surface. Otherwise the older pro seems superior, if only slightly, in most ways. Quad speakers seem very nice to have.

There are (4) in stock iPad Pro 10.5” 2nd gen 64GB WiFi models retail sealed for $299 in Walmart near me. Best deal around. The 256GB model is $399. Only in store. And it must be in stock.

Check out brickseek, type in your zip code for local Walmart’s that have them in stock!

Why pay $500 for a iPad Air for less features? If you live in the US. This is the best option all day long! Not even close...

Find them in stock and it is worth the drive!

Go here. And get it done.. you can buy (2) iPad Pro 2nd gens for $599.99 retail sealed! Not refurbs..

You've probably never had to deal with SoCal traffic. :p

The 10.5 clicks all the boxes for me; Pro-motion, great 4 stereo speakers (had read how good, but blown away how really amazing they are), enough power (more, of course is always better, but does the job) and the GPU is an advantage, 4gb of RAM is what I think of as minimum these days, headphone jack, great display in the right size for screen size in combination with portability.

So, lucky found ‘the perfect’ APPLE ‘refurbished’ cellular 256gb and space gray - few and far between available here in Japan - which is actually new and unused sealed white box, and last production/made 2019 April.

My one concern is the reported ‘white spot’ problem I’ve read about, and which the AIR may have solved with a modified shielding fix (seen from a ifixit tear down).

First of all I just want to thank everyone for their input, as most who come around here, I am on the fence between the air and pro 1017 and this post has proven very informative.

I am looking to replace my ipad mini 2 (log overdue) and now that my sister is traveling to the US for a couple weeks I must take advantage hehe. I live in Uruguay and ipad prices over here are pretty much over double US prices! Yes, an ipad pro 10.5 64gb wifi goes for $1.100, and the air 3 is not even in the market yet

So, after 2 days reading everything I could, I came up to the conclusion that either one of them has its pro and cons, but for my personal needs both will do a great job. Tbh, even the ipad 2018 will probably be good for now, but just for the laminated display and added future proof I'll pass on this one... Future proof its very important for me, since I don't often get access to decent prices, so knowing the device will have at least 3 years of excellent performance its worth the extra money.

So the decision for me it pretty much comes down to the best deal I can find. If I can get a Pro cheaper than the Air I'll go for it (or same price with bigger storage)

Since I'll be bringing the ipad to Uruguay I'm not willing to go for refurbished devices, I'm just trying to avoid any kind of trouble since over here there are no apple stores and even tho there are a couple apple certified techs, they have proven to be a pain to deal with in the past.

Right now, best prices I could find:
Ipad Air 3 (64gb - wifi) : $479 (amazon)
Ipad Pro 10.5 (64gb - wifi) : $499 (newegg)

I honestly don't know where else to look, I'm sure there are better ipad pro deals around there tho. If anyone can point me to some trustworthy sellers I would appreciate it!

Keep in mind, it must be shipped to NYC. I don't want to have my sister wasting time going to stores "losing" trip time...

With the white spot issue in some Pros and the lack of Apple Stores, I think I’d be inclined to go for the Air.

iOS wise the Air is likely to get one more iOS version than the Pro, if that is a concern to you. It may get 2 but I think 1 is most likely.

I agree, but if I can snatch a pro for a significant lower price it might be worth the risk...and if the white apot appears Ill have to hassle with apple rep here

IOS updates are not really a concern for me, mi mini2 is still getting updates and is quite laggy and unusable for other than mail, web browsing and watching videos...when I talk about future proof I mean time of good performance, not necessarily means is still supported by apple or not

After playing for a few days, considering returning 10.5 256gb and getting new 11 at Best Buy this weekend for $674. Future proofing, is the thought. But not sure.
