My M4 13 inch was randomly rebooting after sitting idle for many hours. Panic full report stated sleep/wake hang issue. Went to Apple Store and they acknowledged it as a kernel issue and replaced the iPad. Now it has been about 5 days using the new iPad, today in the evening after using it after almost a day of idle time it had randomly restarted. Checked logs and a panic full was created with the same Sleep/wake hang issue. Guess Apple have done something wrong with the software connecting the hardware while idling which is causing OS crash.
My replacement working fine so far 🤞. Received it with 17.5.1 which I didn’t update to 17.6.1 and waiting for 18. MFG date June 2024 (check under battery health). Also have the apple care just in case. You should go back if happened couple more times.

Yes will surely go if happened more than twice. Last time they did a fresh os reinstall on my old iPad Pro m4 but it still happened so they had to replace it. Today after 5 days it happened for the first time on the new one. I will monitor it on iPad OS 18 and check if it's happening again. Thanks again for replying!

This is hareware co-design bug, caused by Apple's sh*tty codebase. It has been observed and complained for 1 more years.

Apple has no response to this. The only solution is, don't buy it, don't buy it, don't buy it!!!
