Hi all,

Got my new iPad Pro 12.9” M2 today and it seem like the display has an issue.

While using the iPad, I can see a sort of dotted pattern on the screen, as if it’s dirt. For example if I go to apples website, with the white background, it’s almost as if the white background has a bit of texture, but when I scroll the webpage up and down, the pattern stays fixed. Which tells me it’s an issue with the screen. It’s almost like it has a film on it and that film has some sort of dirty pattern.

Is anyone experiencing the same?!?

Much appreciated.

Still waiting on mine doing the 16.1 update1
Would be nice to see if you can spot the same problem. It’s almost as if it’s a pattern like this, but very faint and subtle:

This is what I mean. Can you guys tell when I scroll up and down, that there’s a very faint pattern that never moves?!? That’s what I mean. I hope the video compression won’t make it hard to see:

Sorry not seeing it in the image or video. If you are near Apple and have any doubt, I would go and see them.

My 12.9 M2 screen is perfect, just like my 12.9 M1. Took a while doing the 16.1 update and transfer but the transfer worked perfectly.

My 10.5” Pro had this and it used to drive me crazy when scrolling mostly. I just didn’t think the 3rd party place I bought it from would’ve accepted a return for it.

I’m definitely having a motion blur effect when scrolling on my new iPad Pro that my old 2020 iPad Pro did not have.

I think I’m having this same issue with my new M2 12.9” iPad Pro. When dark mode is enabled along with either Night Shift or True Tone, there is an awful motion blur effect causing white text to turn red and look very distorted while scrolling (just as you showed in your video). I upgraded from an M1 12.9” Pro that did not have this issue. I figured the displays would be identical, but clearly something has changed. I don’t know if it’s a software problem or an inherent issue with the display.

around the bottom right corner...its seems not right...an assemble issue when the display was inserted for sure
Make an exchange since this can be a limited issue

I’m also having the same issue. Notice it when Night Shift is turned on. It seems to happen regardless of wether dark mode is on or off. With others having the same issue it’s hard to believe it would be a hardware issue. Trying to decide if I should return the iPad or not.

Same issue here, but on an M1 12.9 Pro. Started seeing this only after updating to iPadOS 16.1.

Interesting, I have a 5th gen iPad Pro with the same display that I haven’t upgraded to 16.1 yet. I’ll go ahead and do that to see if I have the same issue on that iPad as well. Not sure if the update for the Apple Pencil hover feature changes anything.

Updated my M1 iPad Pro to iOS 16.1 and it has no issues. I’m thinking my new M2 iPad Pro has a defective screen.

Just a heads up, the night shift has to be on, with the color temperature bar level in the middle, and it is mostly seen when dark mode is on. You can really see it when scrolling on settings or the App Store

I tried this. I have no color shift. There is some text blur when scrolling fast, but I’d expect that. Maybe, indeed, a faulty display on your end?

Same issue here too and it started only after upgrading to iPadOS 16.1. I've had my M1 12.9" since launch, and this is the first time I've seen it.

Although the color shift doesn't happen with True Tone and Night Shift disabled, some text still blurs and dims when scrolling. This is especially evident on the Kindle app, but I also see it on Safari when text is narrow, like the Top Headlines section of ESPN's home page.

So weird how some people are seeing it and some are not. I hate to take a trip to the Apple Store and exchange for another one that does the same thing if it’s a software related issue.

I disabled True Tone just now and it‘s a little less obvious, but still very noticeable.
