I was in the Apple store today and tried both side by side. Whether it was photos, videos, Safari, Youtube or the home screen, everything looked equally good on both. Only HDR videos were a little better on the 12.9. But it was also almost imperceptible. In no way is it a wow effect in any form. Of course, it could also have something to do with the fact that the light is very bright in the stores.

Are you just imagining that the 12.9 has a better screen?
It certainly doesn't, at least in bright conditions.

It’s brighter and HDR content on it looks rather amazing, as in high-end TV. If you don’t watch HDR content, I agree you might not notice that much of a difference.

There’s also a drawback to the mini-LED screen, which is excessive halo-ing. I often use mine to read, and on black background at night this defect is very visible.

The difference would be obvious in a dark room.

I have the 2021 12.9 and had it simultaneously with the 2018 12.9. In a well-lit room, they looked much alike but under darker conditions - not a blackened room - the M1 12.9 had had a better vibrancy in the display of the same material. Hard to describe but I could see it.

I own a large LG Oled TV and on it you can clearly see the difference between HDR and non HDR. Also on the iPhone you could see the difference between lcd (iPhone 11) and oled (iPhone 12) relatively quickly.

Since I generally do not watch HDR movies/series on the iPad, I am probably better served with the 11 inch. In addition, I do not need the size. It's just stupid that in Germany the price for the iPad Pro 11 has risen to 1050 € (from 879 €) and the 2021 model is still available and even then without a discount, although it is already 1.5 years old.

That's why mini-LED TVs are cheaper than OLED TVs.
They are? Sure a couple of 2nd rate manufacturers sell lower priced mini-led, but Sony and Samsung both sell mini-led that are quite a bit more expensive than a comparable OLED. I've seen both the Samsung QN90B and Sony X95K in action and between the brightness, black levels, with minimal blooming they look glorious.

How many have you seen in person?

Mini-LED cheap tech and cheap price.

You will definitell notice it with black levels in a movie. Something like a Star Wars or something will show a big difference. I had the 11 “ 2020 model and the 12.9 M1 is a lot nicer

I have the Mini LED 12.9" iPad and I'm getting the new 11" with zero worry about this. Even the iPad Air at 500 nits is not a particularly noticeable downgrade.

I've had 2 x 11" 2018 and 2021, also 2021 12.9", sure 12.9 is a bit better screen wise mainly for watching HDR, blacks etc, but it's not $700AUD better than I paid for my 2021 11", I sold the 12.9 after 1 year and luckily got back $1400 only dropped $200, now the same 12.9" 256gb is $2079 far out, unless you absolutely need the bigger screen for drawing or something it's a ripoff imo
My 65" Sony TV was only $1900 lol

The 11 maxes out at 600 nits of screen brightness. With HDR content, the 12.9 can crank up to 1600 nits. Then you'll notice the difference.
please tell me when you need a screen that bright, don't say out in sun lol, the 11" is even too bright haha

LMAO. Now you’re moving the goalposts and comparing it to a completely new technology. Done with you . Have a nice day. You’re now ignored.
im still wondering why people still argue with that girl, she always showed that she lack real tech knowledge and she always compare apple to oranges just to mock Apple for some reason
Of course at same level, apple to apple mini-Led is a bit more expensive to the Oled..and this is mini_led at mid range tech from the ipad pro, if Apple decide to have dimming zones almost the same number count with the pixels count(even more expensive tech)...then we are talking about something truly magnificent that only micro-Led can surpass it in the future

I picked up my new 12.9” pro today. It’s replacing a very first edition.
Got it home and migrated data from old one ok, then I started to look at settings, etc, and found the iPad is not seeing any of my 5GH WiFi networks. Tried to specify the SSID ancc DXC connect that way, but couldn’t find the network.
Contacted Apple and went through resets, but no go. Have a number of other Apple products connected on 5GH network so not my home network.

Anyone else have the same issue?

Taking it back to store tomorrow.
