I don’t think iCloud stores every bit. Doesn’t it store markers. Like why store same movie thousands of times for all users. Movie already in cloud, just store fact you have it downloaded to iPad. When restoring it would download from original source.

Now if you have unique drawings those would be uploaded to cloud. I have 200 GB iCloud account. Seems to be backing up my iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPhone XS Max with room to spare. Think it’s only $1.99 a month if I remember right.

I agree if it's Apple content that it probably doesn't count towards your storage...it makes sense but I don't know if that's how it works or not.

I d/l mine from iTunes, as it’s more convenient as it goes straight onto the iPad, compared to downloading from those dodgy websites, then you have to transfer from your PC / Mac which I obviously condone

Buy em in iTunes. Then download to iPad Pro so I have them onboard. Don’t need to use data when playing. Dont’t need LTE iPad. Play anywhere.

Here is a trick, get Barclay card. Has free $25 iTunes card for every 2500 points. I have not bought any iTunes cards in over 5 years. Currently have over $400 in iTunes account. Have not paid for iCloud, Apple Music, movies, apps in years. Just charge everything, but be sure to pay off each month, so no interest. Free money.
