Last I heard the iPads are rumored to be updated with an intermediate size (10.5") with smaller bezels and hence the body size of the current 9.7".

Have there been any more recent rumors about this? What's the latest?

When will it be released!?

March at the soonest, could also be like next October. Apple doesn't tend to just dump this stuff out of nowhere, there will be an event. And you know just about as much as we do.

I dunno about being the 10.5" being the same size as the 9.7" even if the bezels shrink.

But that is the most unimportant question on my list...

Thanks for your replies...well i hope that if it is 18 months then at least March might count as 18mo and they'll upgrade all of the sizes, not just the dated 12.9, in light of that latest Kuo report rumor.

I wish apple had a regular November or December event..or that they'd piggyback the iPads onto the AirPods. Come on apple, squeeze it out already!

Hope they waterproof them iPhone 7 style, too. And handwriting recognition systemwide, as they have on the Watch to make that pencil productive for people who want to write.

It would be the first step toward making America great again!

People like you ask for pretty silly stuff.

How does making the iPad IP67 materially benefit you? Ask a 100 people if their iPad was damaged by water ingress.

Some goes for handwriting recognition. How is that so useful?

You're nutty.
[doublepost=1478917455][/doublepost]One last thing: if you do post a reply to this, don't expect an answer for at least a week.

It's going to take at least that long for your nuttiness to clear from my brain. And no, that wasn't a joke.

My wife was FaceTime'ing my parents while my daughter was in the tub. She dropped her iPad mini in the tub.

My iPad was laying on the sofa table and my daughter knocked over a glass of water and soaked my iPad.

Are you seeing a theme here (besides my daughter being a house monster)? A little waterproofing would go a long way for a device like this.

Owning a 9.7 Pro I wouldn't even want a 10.5 model Why ? For the same reason people dislike the 12.9 Pro App developers still to this day Have Optimized Apps for its size and resolution many apps still appear stretched or worse.

Currently have an Air 2 . I won't be upgrading to 10.5 inch iPad version If I upgrade,I will get the 12.9 Pro 2

Ideally I would as well. But I read in the rumours that the 10" one will be bezel-less. If the 12.9" has a redesigned form-factor, I'll be all over it. I just don't like the chamfered edge of the iPads. Even the iPhone 5 was the worst iPhone design for that reason (IMO).

Yes, i can definitely see a theme here, but it's not the case for waterproof iPads ;)

I really don't care about bezels . I can live with them
Question: the iPads will release in march ,. But, will the release happen in the beginning, mid or last week of march?

The current rumor is the iPad Pro to have a new 10.9 inch bezzless model that would fit in a 9.7 inch frame. That is the latest rumor for March's unveiling.

Water proof - I suppose that depends on which 100 people you ask. If you ask 100 people who only use it at home, in the office, or at Starbucks, then maybe very few (maybe none). Now ask 100 people who use it in the field - those who likely have a big, thick waterproof case. I bet you get quick a favorable thumbs up for waterproof ipads. Or how about people who take them on vacations? Personally, I would LOVE for my iPad to be waterproof - especially a Mini. Do I need it to be waterproof every day? No, but it seems silly to spend $100 on a case for the very few times I would like it.

Handwriting Recognition - Do I NEED it? No, but I would certainly use it! Again, it depends on the audience. For people that only use their iPad for surfing the web and Netflix, they would probably never use it. For people that use their iPad to take notes in meetings or would like to write instead of type, it would be incredibly useful.

Yeah, I'm in agreement for ditching the chamfered edge - the rounded edges of the iPhone are much nicer!

As for a Bezel-less screen? First response is: Heck yeah! I HATE Bezels (on any device) and if we can be rid of them, great! ... having said that... I guess I would have to see and hold one. I've been thinking about the bezel and, for the most part, it's personally useless. It holds the camera and the touch-ID, but if the touch-ID is integrated into the screen, I'm sure they can find some clever way to deal with the camera.

The side bezels would go and the top and bottom bezels would probably only get slimed down. I do not see Apple putting the touch id into the display for awhile. Even on the new Macbook Pro the touch id is a seperate piece of glass that acts as the power button as well.

I dont see the bezels go away in a long time. Actually I like the look and feel of the current ipad & iphone bezels. It makes the device look and feel more solid. My current wishlist for the upcoming ipads;

-10.5" or bigger OLED screens (with truetone ofcourse)
-3D touch/new iphone 7 style homebutton.
-Huge performance improvement. Atleast 6GB RAM.
-light as possible
-perhaps a wireless charging

I believe my air2 is holding great until i see atleast most of these things happening. I know its not going to be next year but perhaps 2018 or 2019.

For those of us waiting, we're glad 2017 isn't a leap year...

... of course for those of us waiting, it'll seem like March 32, or 33rd....

I'd like to add:
- 512GB Storage
- Longer Life Battery (I put that for everything)
- Cellular Telephony Chip, so it can be my iPhone too (HA! zero chance of this one...)
- iOS/macOS Capabiity

I'm getting one as soon as the start selling them. I have my Best Buy gift cards all lined up...
