4GB was already minimum for acceptable Windows performance back in 2008/9. At this point in time, you really want 8GB minimum.

I've already been installing 8GB in 2009 (Nehalem) and switched to 16GB in 2012 (Ivy Bridge). Going for 32GB on the Bean Canyon/Coffee Lake NUC.

I agree. Especially if you open lots of tabs. I am currently with 8 GB but I have been thinking about expanding it to 32 GB (as I have 2 slots and if I will have to open the laptop I prefer to do it only once). This is however more like future proofing as honestly for general usage (browsing etc) 8 GB is OK. Now if you open lots of tabs or use apps like Photoshop or doing video editing or doing programming than you need more. For example our work laptops have 16 GB and sometimes struggle with IDE and dev server and all that.

I've gotten not enough memory messages on Windows with 16GB RAM that I had to increase my page file to 4GB. Granted, had a crap ton of browser windows and tabs open.

Wow really? I have never gotten this message. I have had tabs being reloaded (after staying for days because I do not shut down my laptop) but no such message.

I thought I have a lot of open tabs and windows. You beat me :D

I always felt 4GB was like 8GB in a MacBook and 6GB was like 10GB. I would love 8-16GB on an iPad (even as it is now, lol.)

Also the reason I think 4GB of RAM is a hella ton is because I have an old 2008 Vista HP laptop with a measly 2GB. But with just that 2GB, it still worked like a beast in editing movies, photos, and all sorts of stuff. Even cooler is that it handled that full OS demon known as Windows without issue, and works to this day, if I ever need it.
but... I still would love 8GB or RAM on an iPad for no reason, but just cause. 😂✌️

So what is a good price for the 2018 (11 inch) model?

I see many places have it for $699 but that doesn't seem like to much of a price decrease since I have seen it drop to that many times in the past year +

$549 for 64GB Wi-Fi, $679 for 256GB Wi-Fi on Apple refurb store.

I was waiting on the 2020 iPad Pro model, but was disappointed to see the 12Z processor benchmarks out as essentially the same as the 2018s 12X model, so we ended up back where the current iPhone is faster than the current top-of-the-line iPad. I was kind of hoping for a 13X or equivalent, but that did not happen.
