Mock all you'd like, I just wanted to point out a clear design decision that the graphic designers have made. Comparing a hand-made graphic to an out-of-focus picture is something we both know isn't the same. This forum is a very specific community so I figured analysis would be welcomed here.
Maybe your "analysis" isn't better received because it is flawed. The pixels you circled are most likely the result of anti-aliasing. If you visually compare the outer edge of the corner to the inner edge it is clear to see that the outer edge is curved... not evident at all that the inner edge is. If it were indeed a curved inner edge, there would be more lighter pixels in the area you circled.

Front page is leading with this story so flawed or not he seems to have called it. Why don’t we just applaud his enthusiasm instead of knocking it down?

Go ahead, you are free to applaud him. I simply disagree with his assertion. Edit: the front page story is using different evidence in their claim.

The icon shows that the sharp edge from a 90° angle is gone, replaced by a curve.

There aren’t enough pixels to show the curve clearly, but the colors changes in that area are dispositive.

But you’re right, it will be what it will be. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it either way, it’s going to look amazing!

Lets all hope it is not all BLUE like the ICON!

Different evidence that backs up OP's assertion.

I disagree with your analysis of the pixels though, the radius is much smaller on the inner corner as opposed to the outer corner, and many fewer pixels to represent the curve. Across 4 or 5 pixels, there’s no room for the lighter pixels you’re looking for.

And why would antialiasing be necessary unless the inner corner was, in fact, curved? Antialiasing just confirms the corner is not a 90; compare it to the old glyph and it’s easy to see the difference.

What’s a glyph btw ? Is that different from a jpg or icon?
A simplified graphic representation of a real-world object is how I think of it.

If it’s a true iPhone X style redesign, I’ve decided I’m upgrading. If it’s just like the 10.5” model I already have with a slightly bigger screen, I might hold off.

With the Re-design and Face ID implementation alone is going to draw the consumer. When they see physical changes, in their mind, they see this as a ‘new’ device. It’s the same euphoria when the iPhone X launched, with a redesign comes the attraction to the consumer that it must be a new device because of the form factor changes, aside from anything else. Its Amazing that the smallest physical tweaks to a product like an iPad after all these years have those heavily excited over rounded corners. To me, the real pleasure will be using Face ID and allowing for display by eliminating the thicker bezels.

To me reducing weight especially for the 12.9" model would be nice. I would not upgrade just for Face ID and smaller bezels because neither significantly improves the experience of using the tablet. I went from iPad Air 2 to IPP 12.9 because of the larger screen, pencil support and 120 Hz refresh rate. The iPad Pro is a good long term device because at the moment there isn’t much wrong with it, the biggest improvements can happen on the software side.
