Definitely still worth it. Even the 1st gen iPad Pros are still fully supported and those came out in 2015.

So, I got the refurbished 2018 11" and really loved it, so much that I decided to return it and pick up the 2020 model with the Back To School free AirPods promotion. With the AirPods, it was only ~$50 more than the refurbished unit. I felt like $50 was worth it for double the storage, 50% more RAM, improved thermals, better camera system and LiDar. So, I definitely up-sold myself, and couldn't be happier. Resale value would be better too, if I decide to upgrade to next year's iPP. After a few days of using the iPad Pro, I can't even look at my iPad 6th generation anymore. I mean, it's a dramatic difference. I know that the standard iPad is still completely capable and a phenomenal value, but I can't ever go back now. Thanks to the MacRumors community for helping me navigate through the crippling decision-making process with your advice (and unprecedented peer pressure).

Do you think 2018 iPad Pros are still solid for 3-5 years? I want to buy a pro, and don’t care much about LiDAR, but the extra ram might be an issue in a couple years. Do you think a refurbished 2018 model is still a good buy?

Should be fine. iPad Air 2 saw support from late 2014 to now getting iOS 14.

If you are worried about RAM maybe try find a refurb 2018 with 1TB? Those have 6GB RAM.

Well then scratch my previous post 😂😅

Congratulations 😁

I also got my 2020 11” today! I’m coming from an iPad Air 2, so this upgrade was long overdue, I am super glad I did it as these 2020 models with 6GB RAM will age very well, it is not every year that Apple upgrades RAM.
