According to MR Buyer's guide, proceed with caution with respect to buying the current iPad Pro 10.5.

It's near it's end cycle and with $150 off sales abound on Black Friday, it may point to a new model soon (next 3 months).

That said, it's plenty fast as is...but perhaps not when updated to iOS 12 o_O
It hasn't even been out for half a year. The Pro 10.5 should be a decent buy (on relatively high end tablet range) particularly with Thanksgiving deals available. Besides, it seems to me that rumored changes such as this tend to actually make it into production around 2 generations after initial rumors.

Another “wait till next year” thread.

Overall my Apple products have all lasted far longer than the good old days of PC.

But the Surface and Win 10 isn’t too bad either.

If you need it or even want it just buy it today, why wait.

With the True Depth sensors being an issue we may not get a new iPad until late 2018 or maybe 2019, plus depending on the next few months Face ID is in testing so it may no make it to the iPad.
If we get another upgrade in about a year I hope we get this...

IF WE GET an update, I see...
A11X 6-8Core
4-6GB RAM
Slim Bezels
No Home Button
Increased Screen Size
(10.5” perhaps becoming 11.1” and 12.9” becoming 13.3”)
I don’t see OLED becoming an iPad thing until either Samsung gets another way of manufacturing more, or Apple starts doing their own or has another supplier.

But as it is now, I LOVE the new iPad Pro. I love the new OS, it’s now almost a 50/50 hybrid of Mac OS and iOS. Comparing it to iPhone it certainly is much different and much more like a PC replacement/tablet OS. I don’t even use the home button except unlocking it. The new gestures and amazing UI make ipad’s iOS 11 the best update I’ve seen.
I think 2017 has been Apple’s greatest year, I love the new iPhone 10 and iPad Pro. The upcoming iMac Pro while stupidly expensive... looks awesome.

Kal.
This would be so dope. I‘m sure we‘ll get it at some point next year!!

Agreed, I'm happy with my 10.5 iPad Pro, I wonder how it will be with no bezels. I like the bezels as it gives me a place to hold the tablet.

With that said, I find myself swiping up and using iPhone x gestures on it, and that's driving me up a wall ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Occasionally when a generational leap is expect, it's worth waiting e.g iPhone 7 to to X, iPad 4 to iPad Air, Macbook Pro to Macbook Pro Retina.

If you can wait then do so, but if you need a new device ASAP then your only choice is to buy.

When is the 2018 expected to arrive? I don't know why I'd want the face thing, but some of the other projected improvements, like waterproof, are attractive to me. Personally I'd like to see an improved volume control button because the button on my iPad pro 2017 12.9 broke after 2 months.

Everybody wants the oled it seems, but the reviewers and Apple laud their screens as being better with more natural colors. I use both and I agree with the more natural colors on IPad but the oled screens on my Samsung tablets are brighter and I think more pleasing.

No oled screens for ipads, since the current ipad pros has 120hz ,and oled cannot do that...and I don’t think it will next year either

Does everybody want Ipad to have oled screens?

Does everybody want Ipad to have oled screens?

Never. Screens with burn-in and PWM (flicker dimming) are a terrible idea for productivity devices. Anyone who does any work would have their most common UIs burned in within a few months.

Far less of an issue on phones, where it’s rare for a user to actually sit down and do hours of work in a single app.

Maybe as a secondary iPad aimed specifically at content consumers, but it would be a very bad idea for the Pro line.

I'd love OLED screen, though the refresh rate shouldn't be anything lower than 120Hz as you'd otherwise have terrible ghosting especially on the bigger iPP (12.9"). Eye strain and dizziness would be horrible

The iPad should be like the new Microsoft Surface's...

Use the iPad as an iPad when you're on the go.... then get to the office and dock it to a screen and run full desktop macOS with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard.

THAT should replace the entry level MacBook's for the 90% of people that just do email/web and some light office software.

Then all actual Mac laptops and desktops can be PRO specs.
