Went to bed with 58% and checked it 12 hours later it had 56%. Pretty good for me. I have background sync turned off too.

This stupid BS why I leave Siri off on iPad and "Hey Siri" off on iPhone

With the efficiency of the M10 Co-processor, there is no way Siri should be draining that much battery in the background on an iPhone or iPad. There's something else contributing to that users battery drainage, and this is coming from somebody who uses 'Hey Siri' on all the time with my iPhone and iPad, with no where near that type of battery depletion.

The main function of coprocessors are used to manage battery life and draw less power, which also add raise to wake functionality and movement of the iPhone.

If you have it disabled, that's your preference, but by no means, should Siri be contributing to those types of issues.

Is there a comparison for batteries of 12.9" First Generation and 12.9" Second Generation?

2nd gen

Re: Apple Pencil: I turn off Bluetooth when I am not using the Pencil. Ditto with WiFi when I am using the Pencil to draw. Yes, using the Pencil produces a hit on battery life, but I use it about an hour every day right now, so it doesn't bug me.

Nearly hit 12 hours yesterday with ridiculous standby time, am very happy overall. Will try to remember to take screenshots of battery life. Really though, I love not having to think about battery life on this thing.

Yesterday I hit 10 hour usage with 40% left, this thing is awesome

Yeah, the speakers on the Pros are amazing.

I know Apple made a big thing about the speakers when the original 12.9 was released, but even on the 10.5 they're amazing.

Better than my 2015 MBP 13" speakers by a fair amount and that laptop has some of the best speakers I've used in a portable device (though I'm sure the retina 15s are probably better than that).

Either way though, for the size, the speakers are amazing.

Just so you guys know ... 18 hours and 33 % left. Awesome?!

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth always on, drawed with the Pencil for a bit, normal usage, brightness at around 20 % or lower (don‘t need more indoors). Never got hot. Now on to testing with iOS 11...

Seems the new Pros went back to iPad-4 level with iOS 6 battery life? That's awesome! The 9.7 Pro sucks compared to it. 3-4 hours less at least.

Would love this 10.5 bad boy but have to save money for HomePod. :p

I know. Fall is always expensive for me. New iPads, iPhone, Home Pod is coming. If Apple would stop making such great products, that would stop me from purchasing them.

I need some help. I continue to have issues with YouTube. The app sucks battery, even though the iPad is in airplane mode. If you look at the screenshot you see how much it works in the background. Doing what??? Last night I put it to sleep, today after a workday it lost about 20-25% battery. The fix is to simply turnoff the background app refresh. Therefore my 2 questions: 1)Is it a pure software/app issue or could it be that something is wrong with my hardware (you would think that the iPad tells the app to should up and stop trying)? 2) Is there any reason forYouTube to refresh in the background (if I turn it off, what would I loose)? Btw, I restalled iOS, but YouTube does the same thing. Compared it to my first generation iPad mini and there it is not issue. Thank you advance.

I tend to close all my open apps after use, just a habit. Also, watch out for Location Services under Privacy

Yes. If you don't use your iPad for 3 weeks it could shorten the overall life expectancy of your battery up to 35%. This is exactly why Apple uses fast shipping from China: it helps avoid this problem.

Just use the iPad every night in bed for 15-20 mins and your iPad should be fine. I'm sure your new wife will understand.

Come again?

This is the most bogus info I've read is a while.

iOS 11 hasn't come out yet and it already became my favorite apple device. Screen is great, speed is off the charts, apps are polished, battery life is amazing.

Keychain on on iOS 10. You might stay away from iOS 11 while it's in beta. I know it's tempting, but it is just 2 more months to get it.

On my iPad Pro 10.5 iOS 11 DB3 Background Refresh off, I get 5-9 hrs battery life. Speakers on full volume though.
