iPad Pro iPad Pro OLED Price

I can compromise with lower price of LED screen instead of paying extortionate prices for OLED tech which will have drawbacks like PWM flickering, image retention.

I think it's a scam that even after 10 years of OLED tech, it's still marketed as some crazy overpriced unobtanium with constant narrative of high manufacturing cost. I just fail to believe that companies like LG, Samsung, BOE never tried to reduce OLED costs. OR it is just Apple's own narrative to prime users into accepting high costly devices having OLED screen?

Nah the $1800 price is justified look everyone has to pay the Apple Tax . Also people like the feeling having the latest and Greatest

From what I remember (in the UK), the M1 iPad Pro was £999 (~£250+ from previous), then the M2 ~£250+ again.
Current M2 price being £1249.
I am expecting at least £250 rise again for M3.

Personally I will be getting an M2 (at best discount I can find) before the M3 release.

Gutted I passed up a Costco deal before xmas M1 12.9" 2TB WiFi + Cel £1200.
 
The price for OLED will be higher for sure. It is why Apple will be offering models like a 12.9 iPad Air shortly.

The rumors are that Apple is using a dual layer OLED beyond anything that Samsung has used. The dual layers are to increase brightness and to reduce the chances of burn-in.

How can a screen (that’s what it is) be more expensive than a MacBook. Crazy.

No way this is true. 1,500 is too steep of a increase. Apple wants to revitalize iPad sales. A 700 USD price increase is not going to achieve that, and no way I would buy one at that price. An OLED screen on an iPad is not worth that much of an increase of my current 11.

Do you think Apple will leave the current iPad Pro in sale with an upgraded M3 SoC? That way they can fill that huge price gap.

No. I think it will be like 2018 when the Pro was replaced with a new design at a higher price.

M1 cellular iPad is kinda old as it has no 5G support. You don’t need to feel gutted or anything. You dodged an outdated bullet as a matter of fact. 😜

Not at the scale they are aiming for, like someone else has already mentioned. The price will go up, but not significantly. I predict it's going to be like the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The price went up by $100, but it was still manageable and it had enough features to warrant that increase. iPad sales are flat, so Apple has to make this an enticing upgrade, even with a modest price hike.

‘The point is they will be offering a 12.9 iPad Air for people who are on a limited budget. OLED will be substantially more costly to produce and will cost more.

The huge price gap is just unrealistic speculation here. The price will go up by $100, just like miniled did, and miniled will not go up "technically". They'll add another $100 price for each model saying that they "just" removed the 128GB version, so prices tecnically did not increase ($999 for the 11" and $1199 for the 12.9").
What people are a bit too optimistic about instead is that the air won't get any price increase and bump the storage to 128GB... Not happening IMO. If storage increases, be prepared to have at least a $50 price bump, making the gap $350, not small but still large. I wouldn't be surprised that the price for the 12.9 air is even a bit more, at $899.

The cellular function is pointless to me....that was just the spec of the model...;)

Well in the UK (as my previous post), it has gone up £250 each time.
And considering the base model is more expensive than the US version (damn exchange rate), it's even more expensive over here....:mad:

Ah, I see. The huge price increase has been rumored for years, but the same has been said for the last iPhone and the price has barely increased, so… maybe Apple is testing the waters or preparing people to expect a super expensive device, and then a $1000 or $1200 will seem cheap.

What I’d personally do, I’d use the current Pro technology (pro-Motion LCD display, M2, base 128GB, Face ID) and use it for a slightly more expensive Air line.
