I was on right at 8AM and had the dreaded cart issues, Then I went through the app and it wouldnt let me use my gift cards so I had to use the web browser and to place my order and then I had a launch day delivery, then I saw you could get the EDU discount so I canceled the order and placed a new order with the EDU discount and got June 2-9.

The biggest thing to remember guys is Apple ALWAYS overshoots delivery, Pretty much all my Apple devices that didn't have launch date when I placed the order usually updated to either a closer date or a launch date delivery, Im even more so confident in this since its almost a month out Apple now knows what models to focus on ramping up supply on.

iPad Pro 12.9" - Silver - 512 GB - Delivers May 21 to May 28

My first three orders failed with "this item is not available" in the Apple Store app, but then randomly appeared in my cart so I went with it. Hope I don't regret stepping up from 10.5" to 12.9"

Initially also 21 - 28th of May in the confirmation email. But if I now check the app it also says 28th of May. But I'm guessing (of hoping) that it will be before the 28th.

I forgot to order entirely so I'm going to take my chances waking up early and attempting to reserve one for in-store pick up on launch day.

How often has that been happening? Has it been happening anywhere specifically?
This is not a guarantee but this seems to be a long-standing Apple strategy for launches to underpromise and overdeliver. It also has to do with their apparent incredible ability to ramp production and redirect shipments on the fly to meet demand.

I can recall many instances of this for me over the past 15 years.

I used to do that... but the way COVID has impacted everything. I didn‘t preorder next generation console… decided to wait for launch, won’t make that mistake again. I made sure to order ASAP. Any specific configuration you looking for?

Doubt it would have helped. It was pretty impossible to preorder the PS5, too. Just gone so quickly.

At least with iPads, you can queue up.

I guess time will tell but they do have a long history of dates moving closer. I suspect it is all a form of marketing, folks are always pleased when it arrives earlier than expected. Of course I mean after launch day.

I went through some initial chaos with the checkout functionality so I went and got my iMac before coming back to the iPad Pro. Then, after I placed orders I had some buyer's remorse spending the extra $400 to go from 512GB/8GB -> 1TB/16GB, so I cancelled my June 9-23 1TB/5G order. Right now I have...

11"/Silver/512GB/5G -- May 24-28
12.9"/Silver/1TB/WiFi -- May 21-27 (listing this on eBay to see if I can make a profit with how far out they're sold, but if nobody bites on that I'll just cancel the order before it ever goes to PFS)
12.9"/Silver/512GB/5G -- "6-8 weeks" (I will cancel this before PFS if I can get a launch-day model in-store)

Really fumbled this launch between my indecision - I really had enough time to lock down which configs I wanted - and Apple's website woes. To this day I can't decide between 11" iPad + 16" MBP vs. 12.9" iPad, hence still having one of each size on order. Oh, well. At least I got the iMac for May 21 -27.

Lol, when I woke up ~6:30AM, I went to Apple, Amazon and Best Buy to place preorders and just planned on keeping whichever shipped first.

The Amazon preorder went smoothly. Best Buy website was very slow and crapping out, plus the 1TB 5G models were gone already. Apple website was also very slow and 1TB 5G had already slipped to June-July.

I was wondering if I should still place an order with Apple since they often ship earlier than their estimates but after thinking about it, it doesn't really matter to me if the new iPad gets delayed a week or two. Also, I just ordered an open-box 256GB LTE Sky Blue Air 4 from Best Buy so I've got a new toy to play with in the mean time.

The Pro 11 is great but TouchID's just better for the current situation and I tend to carry the small iPad with me around the office, to the doctor's, etc.

Those 1TB 5G models went so quickly. I actually had one at checkout for May 21-27 that wouldn't complete and I later realized it was because I hadn't checked the box to agree to the Education terms... The error only shows above, out of sight where the checkbox is, and there is no feedback or error message down by the Complete button... It just does nothing until you scroll back up, realize you hadn't checked the box, check it and try again. Doesn't really matter since I later changed my mind to go back to 512GB anyway, but still...

I relegated myself to purchasing directly from Apple since I wanted the 3% Apple Card cashbacks and the 12 month payments. Not that I couldn't pay up front, it's just nice to split the cost up at 0% APR.

I think if I kept rolling with the 12.9" I would end up getting an iPad mini to fill the role of portable / handheld / eReader-like tablet. I can't decide if having two iPads at each end of the size spectrum is better than having one "Goldilocks" 11" iPad that sort of fills both roles. If I could accept not having a laptop then I'd go all in on 12.9" + mini, but I know damn well the MBPs are going to be impressive and probably entice me to buy, too.

I'm pretty much constantly thinking about what the Ultimate Tech Setup Combination is and I can't decide for the life of me.

I have an iPad mini 4 so I know the size doesn't work for me. Maybe back when my eyes were better but not anymore.

I've got the M1 MacBook Air and I haven't used it for months. Unless work switches to Macs or until I retire, I don't think I want to expend the energy to learn MacOS for the few times I actually need a desktop OS at home.

I like my current iPad setup (Pro 12.9 2nd gen + Pro 10.5 + Air 3) and I plan on moving to something similar when I replace the iPads (1x big iPad + 2x medium iPads).
