As crazy as it sounds I'm beginning to think the strong magnets in the ASK may be acting like you opened a Smart Cover. Has anyone tried turning off the Lock/Unlock feature for the Smart Cover in Settings? This wouldn't be the first time magnets have caused problems. The first leather smart covers didn't work on the next generation of iPads as the polarity was backwards on some covers. Stranger things have happened.
