After the latest update I am having trouble using my X1 mouse with jump desktop. If I am switching between a remote session and an IOS app the connection to the X1 mouse gets lost. The only thing that helps in this case is to kill jump desktop and restarting it again. This works before without problems...

It gets linked through Bluetooth and only works in two remote desktop applications (a free RDP application, and jump desktop). You may see a video in jump desktop website.

Inside Jump desktop you can tune mouse speed, change buttons and scrolling wheel direction.

Whoa... how did I not ever find that as a mouse solution? I didn't want to get the Citrix mouse because I thought you needed to subscribe to their service, which I didn't want to do. Thanks for the tip!!

This happened to me and my fix was to do a reset of the iPad.

I am having the same issue since v7.1.2. It only happens for me if I leave Jump connected to a remote session in the background for 10 + minutes while in another App. If I switch back and forth between Jump and other iOS applications within just a couple of minutes then the mouse stays connected....issue only appears if Jump is left in background for a longer timeframe. I emailed Jump support to report this bug.

Yes it works but only for some time....Maybe it has something to do how long one works in IOS again. Reported that to Jump too. Did this also happen with the Swiftpoint mouse? Hope they fix it soon...

I had problems with Windows RDP yesterday, I do not know if they are related with the last update from jump desktop, or some problem with my work network infrastructure (the responsible was out for one week). Today everything seems to work ok, but I did not use jump for too long (I was almost all day in the office). Maybe tomorrow I will be able to answer this last question.

the game and app libs are limited. battery life 2/3's a ipp. otherwise its very good

Jump seems to use a lot of battery power. It has the top spot in battery usage although I did not work the most time in a Jump session. Do you think is uses battery power while running in the background?

Hi guys,

I'm one of the developers working on Jump Desktop. We've already fixed connectivity problems with the X1 for our upcoming 7.1.3 update. If you have an X1 and want to beta test the fix please shoot an email to support@jumpdesktop.com.

@AlexJoda Jump should not use any battery while it's in the background. When you move Jump to the background, it suspends the remote desktop session if you're connected (i.e. it stops requesting screen updates and such), and does the bare minimum to maintain the network connection to the desktop incase you multi-task back to Jump. Usually iOS completely suspends Jump after 3-5 minutes - UNLESS it thinks you're playing audio over RDP in the background. Let me know if you hit this problem consistently.

Hi Developer,
it´s very good to hear that you are working on the problems related X1 and maybe other mice. What bothers me most is that the connection to the X1 gets lost and did get not came back after the iPad wakes from suspension or Jump Desktops returns from background to foreground. You have to force Jump Desktop to close to fix this.

I don´t know why my iPad uses more battery with Jump desktop running in the background but that seems to be the case if you are switching a lot between Jump and other Apps. Maybe it has something to do with these 3-5 minutes before it suspends. If you leave it in the background for longer it is OK. Would like to test the new version to see if that all is fixed......

I've been playing around with Jump Desktop. I like it a lot better than Team Viewer. Using Jump on the 12.9 Pro is quite nice and the smoothness of the zoom when needed is greatly appreciated. I'm going to hold off just a little bit longer to see what Apple does at WWDC this June w/iOS 10 and support for pointing devices before buying the Citrix X1. Either way (native mouse support or Citrix X1) it's going to be a killer setup.

UPDATE: Obviously Apple's announcement regarding iOS 10 was a "bust" in the context of improving the Pro-ness of the iPad Pro, so I went ahead and hinted to the family that the Citrix X1 would make a nice father's day gift. My son and DIL came through.

I've only used it for 10 minutes or so (it arrived yesterday) but so far it is amazing. It is virtually the same size and shape as my Motorola BT mouse that I use with my MBA. I hope to give it a thorough shakedown within the next few days.

Here is a much easier solution to having a desktop and laptop and not having two upkeep two different computers: just get a MacBook with an external display. It seems like that would be much more efficient/smooth than a whole collection of third party accessories and software.

If that works for you, great!

For some of us it's not about merging a desktop and notebook, but about making the iPad Pro bridge the divide between tablet and notebook.

Having a notebook to supplement our desktop was out of necessity not desirability. Adding a tablet into the mix just made it more cumbersome. The solution outlined in this thread allows us to replace the notebook with an iPad and still have the same (or close to the same) functionality.

I have a Mac Pro and iMac in my home office, remotely accessing them via a 12.9" iPad Pro is far better than replacing them with a Macbook that I'd have to lug around... and not have the capabilities of the iPad. THAT is the beauty of this setup.

I see your point and in fact recently I got a MacBook and I am using it with two 24 inches 4k displays, one at the office and another one at home.

The reason to get this was I needed to do some development work and for this the iPad Pro screen was a little small and the MacBook plus external monitor is more convenient. Additionally, I expect to be offline or with reduced bandwidth for a few weeks along summer so I thought the MacBook was the perfect solution, better than the iPad.

If I always had good bandwith (and for most tasks) the described iPad plus RDP method showed to be completely workable.

Also, please note all those hardware systems where provided by my employer, and that for me as a university professor having an iPad is not negotiable (handwritten note taking and papers reviewing, much more comfortable papers and thesis reading, etc.).

It is working wonderfully. The mouse is extremely responsive and has great sensitivity and resolution. I like the fact that I can zoom in on a portion of the iMac desktop and have even greater accuracy and precision when doing graphic work remotely.

For much of my document creation and editing I use Pages (OSX and iOS)... documents that I need to access remotely are stored on iCloud. When I need to do significant cutting and pasting to rearrange text, I find it more convenient to remote into OSX made the edits in Pages using the mouse, save it, and continue editing locally in Pages on iOS. (that scenario doesn't happen often, but it is handy when I need it) which leads to...

But there's a downside... it makes me miss mouse support in iOS even more.

Thanks! I found one on eBay that I should have on Saturday (cause the guys lives about 10 miles from me). I'm excited to try it. I downloaded jump desktop yesterday and tried it out in the field today with my job's hotspot. It worked really well. I think it'll help solve a few problems for me.

@sracer It arrived today and it's awesome! I'm really enjoying it along with jump desktop.

Does the Swiftpoint GT Mouse work with an IMac on El Capitan? I looked online at both and neither of them says they work with IMac and OS X. Just different Windows, IOS, and Android. No mention of OS X or IMac. I was going to order a Swiftpoint, because I finally tried Jump desktop(it was on sale yesterday), so I got a coupon for $60 off of the Swiftpoint GT. I also looked at the Citrix X1 and that doesn't mention IMac either. So are people with OS X out of luck. The Apple Pencil works as a mouse, but I'd like to try the Swiftpoint Gt.

On amazon, I read a lot of 1-3 star reviews saying it doesn't stay connected to Macs and lots of connectivity problems with the SP GT Mouse. Anyone with an IMac using the SP Gt Mouse with no problems?

Wait hold the phone, does Jump Desktop support audio streaming on OS X? I know it does on Windows...

Not yet, maybe once fluid is developed for Mac and gets support for audio ... But it's development is being quite slow.
