Hi, when I go to holydays in the summer, I'm used to make some snorkeling videos with my GoPro3.
Because of that, I need to bring with my MacBookAir, transfer and edit videos with iMovie and so on.
I would like to ask if some of you has already tried to import hi-res video with usb on iPad Pro and editing them with iMovie on iOS.
I think that time has come! :)

Wouldn't it "just work" by using the Lightning to USB/SD adapter?

it should, but I don't know if iPad can directly see GoPro, or if I need to import video with sd card reader...

+1 on this. Would like to hear some opinions since I've bought my Pro 12.9" and own a GoPro 4. It would be nice since I only edit the music and cut the scenes in Final Cut on my Macbook, so I guess that also could be done on the Ipad with iMovie. Just wondering how to import the videos in most efficient way.

Can someone who owns it try it with a camera and verify if iPad Pro can see it?

Why wouldn't it?
[doublepost=1459504047][/doublepost]From the link I posted:

With the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter, it’s easy to transfer photos and videos from your high-resolution digital camera to your iPad Pro. After you connect the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter, your iPad Pro automatically opens the Photos app, which lets you choose photos and videos to import, then organises them into albums.

Add even greater capability and versatility to your iPad Pro by powering the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter with a USB Power Adapter. Then you can connect USB peripherals like hubs, Ethernet adapters, audio/MIDI interfaces, and card readers for CompactFlash, SD, microSD and more.

The Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter supports standard photo formats, including JPEG and RAW, along with SD and HD video formats, including H.264 and MPEG-4. The 12.9-inch iPad Pro transfers data at USB 3 speeds, while the 9.7-inch iPad Pro uses USB 2.

Honestly, I expect everything (bad & good) from iOS.

Since iPad Air 2, I adopted iOS as my main architecture, and I use Mac only to develop apps and some particular things, so I would like to edit GoPro videos with iPad Pro.

Because you also can't plug in an extarnal hard drive with videos or pictures..
That's by design though.

The whole point of these cables is to allow you to import photos and videos.

Here's the other option: http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/product/MJYT2ZM/A/lightning-to-sd-card-camera-reader?fnode=85

What type of memory card does your GoPro use?

I would like to know if I can connect the cam directly to iPad, without ejecting the card. But I will try with the sd card reader.

If you try that, please let me know how it handle the codec...I doubt it will be able to edit 4k videos

I still don't understand (and it's probably me) how this is an issue.

Get one of the leads and a Micro SD adaptor. Put the Micro SD adaptor in the adaptor and then put the cable in the iPad.

What am I missing?

Yea but it adds up for only one device.. USB-Adapter would be more usable. And the other question still remains if the iPad can handle the GoPro codec (full HD or even 4K). I can try to record a few samples with my GoPro 4 in 4K (with 15fps or 2,7k with 30fps) and transfer them to my iPad via Wi-Fi. I'll do that this evening ;-)

Apparently 1080p gopro files are no playable on ios https://gopro.com/support/articles/gopro-app-supported-resolutions-for-playback-and-copy

This is where iPad pro is very not Pro :(
Can you check if something is different on your iPad Pro?
