The newest device in that article is an iPhone 6 though.

Unless I'm mistaken (not hard!), it doesn't say it's not supported on the Pro.

Or does it?

You are right, that is why I'm waiting (hoping) for some real test out there....as it would be the primary reason to go 256GB instead of 128G and 12.9 instead of 9.7

I tested it out, no problem whatsoever. I can describe what I've done: So I filmed some random 10-15 sec footage, in 1080p and one footage in 4k (with only 15s). I paired my GoPro App on the iPad Pro (12.9") with my GoPro, watched the videos in the app (the quality is a bit low though). Afterwards I've transferred the videos to the iPad (with the app via Wifi), imported them into iMovie and played around with it a bit. And everything worked flawlessly.. If you want me to test something else, just tell me what to do and I will try to test it for you guys, cheers!

Edit: here is a very short video, sorry for filming in vertical mode, I had to do it quickly.. And ignore my chaotic room ;)

Edit 2: First cut is 1080p 60s, 2nd cut is in 4K (that's why it's choppy, since my GoPro only films in 15fps)

I would like to know if I can connect the cam directly to iPad, without ejecting the card. But I will try with the sd card reader.

doesn't work. I connected gopro session thru apple usb3 adapter to iPad pro 12.9"

Now, hopefully I'm wrong but from what i know importing via wifi give you a lower quality video...plus video shotted in pro res are not compatible regardless the resolution...now I'm not sure as I'm struggling to find updated information so it could be different now...

It does not give you lower quality. The quality was only lower while watching the video in the GoPro app.. After the import you had your crispy quality I could check it out in pro res, but since I never film i pro res, I don´t really care..

Best option is to get a micro sd to sd adapter, and a sd to lightning adapter, because this is the fastest way.

I do this all the time.

I also tried with lightining to usb (not usb3) and it did not work (because of too much energy request). I also tried a 32gb usb3 key and it didn't work too for the same problem.
Not very PRO, honestly.

Did you try using the new Lightning to USB (3) adaptor?

Not yet. I've to buy it.
I just tried to transfer video by wi-fi. It works, but it's incredibly slow at transfering data (for a 12 seconds 1080@25fps video it took one minute).

Can you connect the iPad 12.9 pro, with the lightning to USB-C cable, straight to the new GoPro 5 (session or black) for importing?

Thanks!

Yea but it adds up for only one device.. USB-Adapter would be more usable. And the other question still remains if the iPad can handle the GoPro codec (full HD or even 4K). I can try to record a few samples with my GoPro 4 in 4K (with 15fps or 2,7k with 30fps) and transfer them to my iPad via Wi-Fi. I'll do that this evening ;-)

The file compresses when you transfer via wi-if. Automatically drops down to 1080 p and takes for ever to transfer. I want to transfer in normal quality and fast. I am also looking for the most effective/efficient way to do this.
