I pre-ordered mine to ship because when I did a pre-reservation to pick up the iphone 3GS at an Apple Store, they told me that it is based on first come first serve basis, meaning that they dont actually hold your item at the store, it is dependent on how many of this items come into that particular store. Basically if you are not in line with your reservation printout in hand battling the other reservation people, no matter if you get there before 3pm or not, your item could be given to someone else...not sure this is true or not...but I wasnt taking the chance with this type of release. I have heard plenty of horror stories of Apple stores screwing up reservations...right now my Ipad is sitting safely on the ground in Lousiville, KY awaiting Saturday delivery. I wish everyone luck with your stores. I hope what I dealt with is not true.

I'll be getting there at 7am no matter what. I'm pretty sure I'll get one :). If not, Apple Corporate will definitely hear it. :)

It wouldn't be the end of the world if I had a reservation and ended up getting one. I would just complain and hopefully get a gift card or something.

But they prolly had "x" number of total iPad set aside for reservation pickups before they started the sign up process. Last week when they stopped the sign up process(last unit was reserved) they divided up the "x" number of units for each stores requirments. Shouldnt be a problem.

I received my confirmation email today also: )

1 32gb wifi

Question, can I just show them my confirmation email from my phone? My email name matches my I.d... so that's easily proven...

?

Got my confirmation for a 32gb.... umm, I'm ditching my normal 4hr bike ride to wait in-line for my iPad, can't wait;)

4hr peddle bike rike? Haven't done something like that in ages, need to.

I got the conf this morning too though.

On another note my gut feeling has changed. I'm feeling a long line coming.

I made 2 reservations. 1 for 16 gig. Then I went back and tried to make a 32 gig reservation and it said I can't have 2 reservations. A day or 2 later I went back and made a reservation for a 64 gig. Now the email says I have a 64 gig waiting on Saturday.

I may regret paying $200 for a 48 gig bump. I wouldn't be at all surprised if 6 months from now the 64 gig model will be selling for $599. I expect this thing to be more like a general purpose computer than an iPod and that requires more storage.

I reserved an iPad on my iPhone the day reservations began. Got the confirmation page, but I logged in to check my reservation today and it shows no reservations.

Not to fret--you got the confirmation email. I have a feeling they're keeping the "reservations" section solely for it's normal use--Genius, Personal Shopper, classes and other reservations. Otherwise, I can see a boatload of people complaining that they're trying to check on their Genius Bar res and can't access the system because there's 80 bazillion of us compulsively checking to verify that our reservation is still there. And still there 5 minutes later. And rechecking to verify the verbiage is the same as someone else posted. And so on and on and on and....

I talked to my local Apple Store who told me that despite my not having a reservation, I could still pick an iPad up at 9 AM and that sales would be on a "first come, first serve" basis. So, derivatively, I am guessing reservations are iPad orders on top of the regular number of iPads that enter the store.

i reserved on day one but didnt get this email confirmation. i got the original one though when i actually reserved my ipad. this ok?

I'll hit the store at 9:00 without a reservation. I'm regretting not reserving one now but I figure they'll have plenty tomorrow.
