In my specific case, I changed a mixed G and N network to 2 separate networks using WPA2 and it stopped asking me for the password. I still get a "connecting" message popup every once in a while on the N network, but it doesn't forget the password.

I am having the same issue. I use FiOS and I read on the Apple boards to change the channel to 11 and change from WEP to WPA. 15 minutes later it happened again.

This seems a bit silly, like others, I have a multitude of wireless devices that have never given me an issue. I think I am going to hit the Apple store and buy one of their routers. I spend too much time using this iPad to keep having this issue.

Whether you're using FIOS, cable, or a mobile hot spot shouldn't make a difference. The issue is between the iPad and your router.

Changing the channel and moving from WEP to WPA are going to affect two completely different aspects of your wireless connection. WPA authenticates differently than WEP, which is why some are noticing less issues after making the much needed upgrade to WPA.

Moving to channel 11 may reduce interference within the 2.4Ghz band itself and ultimately address other connectivity issues, but it's going to be a separate issue all together.

These issues will most likely be addressed in future firmware fixes.

Tmobile hot spot

Looses connection constantly, do you think the hotel will change the connection protocol to accommodate me?

Hotspots don't use encryption so your comment is not valid. Hotspots are either wide open or use some kind of web auth (nothing to do with WEP/WPA).

I hope Apple releases a fix for this soon because it's getting kind of frustrating. Mine does not keep asking me for my network password but instead it stays connected but it wouldn't connect to anything. I have to wait a couple of minutes and turn off/on the wifi to get back on:mad:

I'm pretty sure this is an 'Apple' glitch, as this happens on my Macbook and iPhone sometimes. Very annoying!

For what it's worth, I am using the Apple AE with WPA/WPA2 security, 801.11n on channel 8 and have had no issues with wireless on any of my 7 devices. It is possible that using channel 11 - the default I think - and WEP would be a source of your issues.

I'm using Fios with the Fios router and WPA2 as well and haven't had any issues at all. This used to happen with my Macbook Air however. It was corrected with my MBA after I changed my SSID and password to something different (and I've tried all the troubleshooting before doing that - WEP, WPA, WPA2), so you may want to give that a shot.

My iPad would constantly lose connection to my Sprint Overdrive. Changed the security to WPA2 and it has worked flawlessly ever since. No other security options hold the connection.

I am having the same issue! But it happens to D-Link router only! I have 5 routers, and only D-Link routers have such problem!

Same issue here. I had it on WEP, snf it happened like every 30 seconds sometimes. Butchanged it to WPA2 and stopped happening for a day but it's happening again, but only 2-3 times a day. It's frustrating, I use to have thi problem on my iPod touch so i do believe it is the router but I don't know how to fix it

My D-Link router was having problems when I was using mixed N and G. I set the D-Link to G only and then set up a Linksys router using N only. Using WPA2 I don't get the problems on either one.

How ironic. I was reading through this thread, paused to take a sip of coffee, and the dreaded 'enter password' alert popped up. I canceled out. A few minutes later it reconnected by itself. Using WPA2.

I can't image how Apple's engineers missed this bug.

Thank you for your information. It seems to me that D-Link router using N will cause the problem with iPad.

same

same issue here wifi 32 gig ipad and fios
no other devices on network have this issue and my wep key is like 24 charts so its a pain.

Well I switched to WPA-TKIP last night and all was fine until tonight. It's forgotten the password several times in the past few hours. Bummer. I will try changing the channel and report back later.

Happens to me as well. Pain in the butt because my password isn't easy to remember, LOL.

I'm on a 32gig Wifi model.

Only noticed it in my home and it's not like I'm walking around and getting out of range. Signal is still strong to where I'm sitting.

I had to change my password to something easy to remember because of this. None of my other connected devices are having this problem, so it's really a pain.

Now my iPad is stuck on a self assigned IP address!!! Any idea on how to get rid of it because I can't connect to my network now? I've tried renewing the lease turning off and on w/o any luck.

Self-assigned? There's no such thing--unless you assigned it a static IP address.

Have you told the iPad to forget the network in the Settings app?

Have you both tried full restores through iTunes? If so, you didn't restore from a previous backup did you?

Yes, it's stuck in 169.254.xxx.xxx ip address (DHCP) when it's suppose to be 192.168.x.xx even after let it forget the network and then reconnect/enter password:confused: It would not renew the lease and reconfigure.

You might be able to delete the lease from the router. That should fix the problem.

Is the gateway set to your router's address? Are you sure you're connected to your network?
