Just told on our local news in Denver.

A brazen theft in the Cherry Creek Mall left the victim with a permanent injury to his hand. He had just bought an iPad as a favor for a friend.

Bill Jordan told CBS4 he moved his family to Colorado from New Jersey 15 years ago to get away from a crime there. Now after the iPad theft, he said his life and the life of his family will never be the same.

"I saw just a bone, all the skin and tendons and everything were off," Jordan said, describing the violent robbery that tore off part of his finger.

"It's like a bad dream," he said.

Last Thursday afternoon the 59-year-old Aurora man walked into the apple store to pick up an iPad for a co-worker.

It's not easier to steal the money? How can he be sure he is getting the model he wants?

Holy jumping, that's just wrong to do. I feel so bad for that guy. I would be miserable if that happened to me.

Stories like this really piss me off. I'd like to kill the prick that did this!

I suppose for the next few months, until all the people who want to rip it out of our hands have already made the attempt, iPad owners should be extra alert when they are outside with it.

If someone even looks at it wrong, strike first and ask questions later.

I hate to say it, but situational awareness is always important.

Yes, on a serious note, be aware of your surroundings when walking out of the store and when using your iPad outside of your home. Warn your spouse and children. You don't want them to face a situation like this.

That poor man :( I feel sorry for him.

When I got my iPad on launch day, I went by taxi and hopped back in as soon as the taxi guy pulled up to me. I wasn't about to walk out alone so some nut could have a chance to rob me because I'm a female.

And I am glad that the taxi driver did not rob you.

Haha, I knew my taxi driver by name and besides he doesn't even know how to work a computer or get online. He was happy I got it though and even got on the phone with the very kind Best buy fella telling him he better hold theiPad for me! Haha and he did!

Good. Be careful. Enjoy your iPad.

Do the Apple bags still use a string to tighten them up? Maybe those need to get replaced with easy-break-away plastic tighteners.

I feel sorry for the man. I like how he said the iPad would be junk in a couple of years. I'd be bitter about it as well...
