It’s pretty much that (and there’s no shame in that)! iPads have quite a long support life… so I’m not sure about longevity of the chip really matters, you could of gotten 4 years out of the 2020 iPad Pro model.

And what does buying the 2021 iPP have to do with transitioning back to the Apple ecosystem?
I could but I want to get more than that, more RAM means more future proof. Transitioning from Android to iOS of course, want to use primarily Files for sharing. It’s my first iPad after the chunky iPad 3, so why not to get the best one, right?

You would think that would apply to apps then in that case, as they’re the things that will use all the power. If iMovie doesn’t cut it, get Luma. Or else don’t do the project you want to do ?
Need to pay for things in life if you want them!

I was leaning toward mentioning this. But apparently... LumaFusion is an entertainment app.

Touching! .. my forehead, repeatedly.

It is when you just enjoy editing your personal clips for your own amusement, not for work or to sell them for ads on Youtube etc. I always used iMovie on iPhone, it's perfectly usable for this but I hoped for more on iPad, at least in terms of UI.

Main feature request is monitor support with some sort of desktop mode on the monitor and possibility to continue using the iPad normally while connected. Alternatively, if the external monitor support is just another iPadOS instance but in 16.9 ratio, support for touch monitors via USB C.

Second feature is customizable dock (ability to add many more icons, including many more recent apps, solving the problem of them becoming too small in portrait mode by creating a second row if necessary)

Lastly, better support for external storage, reading and writing exfat with no corruption and (won't happen...) reading NTFS

Phloating Windows

Proper external monitor support

Finder equivalent features for Files (not asking for access to system files or app files)

File transfer window progress in the form of always-top notifications in Notification Center and banners

Small window apps and a desktop space

Multitasking like a Mac

Multi audio playback support, be able to play more than one audio source and not have it also tied to the app

Final Cut Pro

Logic Pro

Xcode

Mission control

Non-disruptive Siri. Even though Apple made the UI compact, when Siri responds, she pauses the audio. And sometimes doesn’t resume playback from certain sources.

Better server support, be faster, more reliable, show thumbnails

Calculator and Weather apps in the form of small floating windows

Better keyboard shortcuts and unify it with Mac for consistency

Being able to hold command and dragging the PiP window to position it anywhere like Mac

Be able to place PiP anywhere, since as it stands currently now, the PiP window will always need to be moved because it covers the app buttons

Click-to-jump like Max, when you are in the Music app and click on scrubber so that the knob jumps to where you click, it doesn’t do that unless you’re in close proximity to the knob. And sometimes it just doesn’t work in any of the other apps

Better ways to bring apps into side-by-side multitasking, as there no way to bring other apps not in the dock to side by side without using spotlight or recent apps

Let us open spotlight from anywhere using touch, like we can using a keyboard

Better control center, utilize the big space for a better Now Playing widget so we can easily access the scrubber

Let us open picture-in-picture by right clicking on a video or safari tab like we can with Mac so we don’t have to click on full screen button just to press the PiP button

Let us add music to our iCloud music library like we can on Mac

Remove the delay in which we can interact with the UI. If you press the “back” button, you can’t press any buttons because the system won’t let us, this doesn’t happen on Mac which makes us more efficient and faster with work

Disk Utility for formatting hard drives and add passwords

Deletable QuickTime player, so we can watch videos on our devices while also being able to go into PiP

Better Home app

Better context menus that are restricted to the app screen space and let it pop out naturally like it would on a Mac. If you had two apps side by side, the context menu would never go over the divider

A notification badge on the Private button in Safari, indicating that there are tabs open there

Faster animations

App Library and Home Screen widgets similar to iPhone m

List view with collapsing folders

Sidecar with the ability to use magic keyboard input like keyboards and trackpad

Keychain Access or a 1Passsord-style similar app for keychains

Add a recovery mode on iPadOS

Let us highlight words in a text box without having to click on it first and invoking the keyboard QuickType. Some apps don’t support this, but on Mac it’s normal practice

Ability to drag and select files by clicking and holding on a blank space so that a highlighted square can mark files as selected like on Mac

Bring all iPhone apps to iPad like Health for our health dashboard. Translate app, as well as more languages to Safari web translate

Batch rename selected files like on Mac

Ability to export Mail messages to Files like on Mac

Glyphs and icons in Notes folder to replace the magnitude of Folder glyphs in the sidebar similar to Reminders

Sort songs in playlists by alphabetical order and have that setting synced. Similar to how there is sort orders in Apple Maps guides and Reminders lists

The point @cupcakes2000 is making… if you take the same approach as “I want the best iPad,” why not take the same approach as to “I want the best editing app.” You mention you want more from iMovie…. then LumaFusion provides more for you. Regardless, if you consider it an entertainment app.
