I am, which is why I’m not angry about. It’s my choice. But I feel that they shouldn’t have listed this device as supported.
Bro beta 1 and 2 ran like doo doo water on my iPhone 15 Pro… you really can’t judge it, it’s obviously not optimized because why should it be, it’s changing all the time.

It's full OS updates not just security updates. It's a committement, so it's even more certain than Apple OS updates.
Just to be clear I am saying this to correct the wrong information you mentioned, so that when other people read they are not misled, I am not trying to convince you

Can you link to evidence this is the case? Because not even Samsung equivalents of MacRumors sites have been able to confirm it’s a commitment to providing 7 years of full OS updates. If you have a credible source, that would be genuinely insightful information.

here you go https://www.samsung.com/global/sustainability/popup/popup_doc/AYmMNNiq_HsAIx-n/
the page is for the ultra but the plus has the exact same policy.
The doubts you might have read about was probably about the FE (mid-range models) where things have not been as clear and some say it's 7 years of security updates but only 5 or 6 of OS updates (which honestly is probably for the better since these device have less powerful hardware and could be impacted more but feature updates while long term compatibility of apps on Android is much less of an issue than on iPadOS)

sure, but what exactly has the iOS updates brought, since that iPads release, that should tax it so bad that the iPad now runs poorly?
The main issue is probably RAM. Apple has historically been stingy with RAM on iPads. Since iOS 12 in 2018 the OS has increased the amount of RAM it takes to function and 2018 pros, other than the 1TB model (which is the one I own) only have 4 just like the first gen pro and that's probably tight for iPadOS 26 (just like 1GB was tight for iOS 9). Having said that the beta might be the issue there, since even my M1 has slowed down (and I am on beta 4). How much it's the beta and how much impact will have the final OS it's speculation at this point.

Why can’t you go back to iOS 18? How has your iPad been killed? That’s nonsense. Stop installing software that’s meant for developer devices on your personal devices.
I still use my iPad mini 2 from time to time and it hasn't been 'killed'.

Performance is a little better on the latest beta. My 2018 iPad Pro no longer feels as laggy, in the least.
On my M1 I have seen a clear improment in standby drain, now it's essentially like it was on 18.5
I am a bit hesitant to move to the public beta from the beta 4, as I don't know if it's identical or not...

Posts like these is why apple should restrict developer betas to developers. These are DEV builds. They are consider unstable.
