OP, my opinion would be to just replace the battery on your 8+ for £50 at apple, and wait until the iphone 12 series. The regular 11 is a good phone no doubt (better camera and screen tech but lower resolution) but not enough to warrant upgrading from an 8 plus. The A11 in the 8+ is so good that current flagship android devices have now just about equaled its performance (galaxy s20 included).

Hold up-- are there people in here really saying the 11 is not a 'significant upgrade' from the 8 PLUS?! Lol.

The 11 and 11 Pros are basically identical save the screen and the camera.

i don't like OLED ( might burn in )

Why, are you going to take a match to it? ;) Seriously though, not sure where you're getting that. Burn in isn't a thing on these phones (I've had the X, the XS Max, and now the 11 Pro Max).

Burn in is a non issue.

Ah, see. What he said.

You should just go into an Apple Store and play with the different models and see how they look/feel to you.

Never had a problem with the Screen. Its one of the best LCDs and its crisp and sharp. It even has more subpixel ppi than the XS, just read the notebookcheck article about the xr.

Unless you really want FID and the camera although there is no 2 x zoom, I’d keep the 8 plus.
Screen is a Downgrade.

So replying to this post got me thinking, and I went today with low power mode turned off. Battery life was pretty good overall, which I think can be attributed to the recent flurry of patches. There is definitely still some benefit to turning on low power mode, but I seem to have overstated it earlier on.

It does yeah im at 82% battery but the design is kinda getting boring to me now.
I have an 8+ as well. Can you please post a screenshot of your Battery section of how long your 8+ does actually last? I think you would fare better if you turn down your brightness a bit - I use it as a company phone and always come through any day. Really curious.

Aside from the screen, why would you choose the X or Xs over the iPhone 11? Specwise, the 11 wipes the floor with them. The 11 is also is a different league with the battery life.

The iPhone 11 is *the* phone to get if you can't stretch to the 11 Pro.

The battery life of iphone Xr is longer than the 11, 11 heats up after longer use... imo there is a reason why the 11 is cheaper than most models

Is that actually true? From what I have gathered the 11 wins in every regard and does not heat up...

Yeah I upgraded from an X to an 8+ to an 11. No regrets whatsoever. The 11 is all around a better phone than the 8+, and it fits in my hand/pocket better too. The 8+ screen may be “sharper” on paper but in daily use I don’t notice a difference at all. The 11 screen is fantastic, as is the battery life.

Just upgraded my launch day 8+ to an iPhone 11 last Friday. It was a total whim whilst passing the Apple store and not planned.

So far so good - battery a lot better, loving FaceID though no home button takes a while to get used to.

No regrets yet - feels like an upgrade too. I don't notice the screen and it wasn't until i read the specs that I realised.

I will say though that I always buy my phones outright and only bought this as I had a tax rebate for £800 come in unexpectedly - I had planned to hold out until the Autumn for the IP12.

Huge upgrade - faster, nicer design, FaceID, more screen, far better camera. Just better.

Yeah looks like i'll be buying the 11 can't afford pro since its 400$ more in my country lol

In my opinion 11 is worth upgrade from 8+ because gestures and Face ID are more comfortable, you get fresh look and you won’t see negative difference in the screens (not counting size and proportion obviously)

With the 11 you also get face recognition as opposed to fingerprint. I might be in a minority here, but I like face recognition WAY better. I find it much more consistent and overall faster.

Agree - 100% better imo.

I’ll give you ’overall faster’, face ID is exceedingly quick, and it’s improved significantly with iOS 13. But more consistent over touch ID? No, not even close. Face ID still has its pitfalls in terms of recognizing the user if they’re lying down, from various angles, ect, just like touch ID would pose a problem with damp/cold fingers. Both biometric forms for security are not entirely consistent, but I would give touch ID a slight advantage being how much it matured over the years. Face ID isn’t their yet, but it will eventually.
