thought be good to have a thread with all the rumoured features. So far nothing major has been reported is this apple cutting down on leaks?

120hz was rumoured last year bit nothing has come up recently. Only digitises have mentioned it

TOF
bigger sensors for the camera lens.
possible bigger battery?

I guess 5G is also very likely- for those who have a working and well performing network to use it with.

-Hopefully 120Hz support, perhaps with some sort of VRR implementation.
-5G pretty much confirmed to use Qualcomms X55 modem (couldn't care less about mmWave but the normal frequency 5G NR stuff is pretty interesting).
-Maybe AV1 and Opus support as AV1 is about to go mainstream in a big way and often is used alongside Opus, I believe Apple have used Opus for certain things already like iMessage. Plus they support FLAC now which is made by the same group. AV1 and Opus really is the holy grail going forward, super efficient, flexible, open. Oh and Apple is a part of the AV1 group so there's really no reason not to support it.
-Newer Bluetooth standard, would like to see 5.2 with support for LC3 but I think it's too early for that.
-ToF sensor for the rear camera

That's really it, in my opinion the iPhone is such a mature and refined product now that there's not much else to improve on. Getting rid of the notch is about it design wise and I suspect that'll be a gradual shrinkage.

Knowing Apple and its uninformed fanbase, they will get away with their most reinvented innovative 59HZ 720P display.

We won’t see 120hz till 2025.

While the informed fanbase sleeps well, knowing that they have a WQHD or even 4K display in their mobile phone, always activated and thus suffering an unnecessary battery hit. Do they see a difference? No, but they sleep well. :)

yet, the competition doesn’t suffer from shorter battery life...

Yes, they do. Sonys 4K variant got hot because of that for example, and resolution isn't the only thing that makes a display good. You don't see a discernible difference between 720p and 1080p at this screen size at a reasonable distance - so why upping the resolution any further? It's become just another numbers game for marketing sheep, really.

EDIT: Link for source (happy to see one of yours as well) - https://www.anandtech.com/show/14892/the-apple-iphone-11-pro-and-max-review/8

Sony is not the only competition in the market, and if you don’t see the difference between 720p vs 1080P then highly advise you to visit the doctor. I guess you’re one of those who can’t see the difference between 60 vs 120hz as well...?

I knew Apple was able to fool people that their 720p iPhone 11 was innovative.

Did you look at the link provided where a beautiful graph shows you battery life of Android handsets as well?

I do see a difference between 720p and 1080p - on a television a few feet away. On a handset it absolutely makes no sense. That's not innovation per se - it is just logic. You want science? You get science:

Oh, and I do see a difference between 60, 120 and 240 Hz. Nothing wrong with me eyes, but Hz aren't resolution, you know. :)

Yep that 720p phone that’s the most popular smart phone on the market...

I wish we can put those that claim they can see a difference through a test where you can only see the device’s display and they had to guess the resolution.

I bet they wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.

I think you need to clarify, it’s not the most popular smartphone on the market, It’s the most popular iPhone boasting 720P on the market, if you’re referring the market ‘in general’, there’s cheaper alternative android phones that are probably more popular than the iPhone in that sense with price points various countries that are well under the iPhone. Not to mention, general consumers have no idea what 720 P is.

The iPhone 11 sold the most units for last year in the UK and US. Certainly when it comes to flagships no phone sold better

Well, given that the iPhone is more popular than any other phone worldwide, it's a bit hard to use the word "popular" here. Of course, cheap things will sell better for a short period of time in a given country - but if you watch a whole year and compare sales figures, iPhone is beating out every other single handset.

There’s no such thing as a ‘flag ship’ phones, even by Apple standards. It’s based on price points, you said most ‘popular iPhone’, it’s not the iPhone that makes a popular, try the price point in general. Especially when Apple slashed the iPhone 11 by $50 dollars comparable to the 2018 E’XR that was $750.

I think you need to clarify, it’s not the most popular smartphone on the market, It’s the most popular iPhone boasting 720P on the market

I believe the generally accepted/intended meaning with that phrase is: it's the most popular single phone model. Practically every other manufacturer has a plethora of different models.

if you’re referring the market ‘in general’, there’s cheaper alternative android phones that are probably more popular than the iPhone

Are more Android phones sold, than iOS phones? Sure. But that's not really what was claimed. I live in one of those markets where Android phones are much more common. Going to any shopping mall here, there is usually an entirely floor dedicated to phone "stuff", and the number of brand names and models on display is beyond ridiculous. Even in the single-brand stores, most manage to have up to a dozen or so different models on display.

There actually is a blind test out there:
That was quite entertaining to watch, thank you. Particularly the part where one guy basically can't accept that he chose the iPhone and it's "inferior" LCD, and claims "its hard when you can't really see the angles" after practically doing the ****ing limbo to look at it from ridiculous angles.

Well, given that the iPhone is more popular than any other phone worldwide, it's a bit hard to use the word "popular" here.

I think you mean it’s a ‘bit hard to not use the word popular’. Nobody’s denying iPhone isn’t popular, but what makes a smart phone popular, isn’t necessarily just the branding/features, it has to be the price point. Why do you think Apple slashed the iPhone 11 by $50? Easily so it would contend better in China, being Apples second largest market.
