Have you done step 1 of teeshot44's post? Or have you skipped over that and got straight to point 3 or 4?
I have not done that. I don't have the time right now to set it up again. If my phone won't download the next Public Beta or the full release of 14.2, which ever comes first, I will do just as you all are recommending. Thanks.

FYI, my iPhone 12 Pro downloaded the official release of iOS 14.2 without issue. I guess it remains to be seen what happens with the next Public Beta release.

This release is a release candidate so it's still part of the beta program. The actual official public release will be coming at some point in the near future and while it will likely be this release candidate it could potentially be somewhat different.

I’ve had Apple TV’s do the same thing your phone did. The only solution was to erase the devices and start over (which is easy given the simplicity of Apple TV). There is no good way to delete the download in Settings.

Glad to see you got it working and if this occurs again in the future you might want to look at doing a full restore to clear up whatever is corrupting that update file.

Now, about getting IPSW files off third party sites:
Even if they are tampered with they will fail to install because the signature and encryption will be broken. If it installs fine then you have a legit file. Apple verifies the signature before it allows the device begin installation. The exception is known jailbreak software.
I know of one legitimate site but we are not allowed to go into detail on the forums, but I can say that the files come directly from Apple’s servers, and I did a very thorough investigation. Just don’t download beta software off a third party site. They’re not allowed to offer it (and can and will get shut down — Apple has done it recently) and technically you’re not supposed to have it (but nobody really cares if you do).
