The new iPhone SE is expected in April. You may want to wait for that. A battery replacement is also a good option, if you don’t want to spend a lot of money.

I've had a few SE's, and they have been fine, but:
It has always annoyed me that even though it has a larger case, the screen size is reduced considerably due to the massive top and bottom bezels. I've been very happy with the 13 Mini, and the expected size of a new SE puts it out of the running for me, even if it has a full screen. The lower cost of an SE is a non issue for me. The battery on my mini is starting to go, and my only hope is Apple won't screw up my phone during the replacement.

I currently have an iPhone 13 mini and love it dearly. Sad that Apple has chosen to discontinue it. With that said, the battery life on my mini is caput (80% battery health) and I am interested in the Apple Intelligence function in the new models, so am looking to upgrade. Factors going into selection:

- Apple Intelligence

- Size: the smaller the better

- Battery life: need something I can rely on without dying after a few hours without charging.

- Storage: 128GB to 256GB preferable. I have 2T storage via iCloud.

- Camera does not matter at all, I own a Fujifilm and take most all my photos on that.

With that said, I am thinking about paying $89 to replace the battery on my mini and get me through the next year before the iPhone 17 comes out. So I guess my question is, given the factors above, is:

Do I upgrade now from the 13 mini to the iPhone 16?

OR

Replace the battery on my 13 mini and wait for the iPhone 17?
Everyone alphas their own reasons for staying with the mini or upgrading. I see AI is important to you so there you go.

For me, I’m having some issues with staying not because of AI or battery (which isn’t good but it’s not a big deal) but the satellite feature. And I’m thinking about going to a google fold pixel 9, not an iPhone.

I off road and often are out of coverage and satellite might really save me. So yah… there I go right.

I agree, I am not interested in apple intelligence and would never pay a subscription to use it.

Sigh... I am in the exact same situation, love my 13 mini but I need a battery replacement. I bought the 12 Mini and loved it, but battery life was awful, so I upgraded to 13 mini. It has been great, but the combination of 80% battery life and change of user behavior on my side made me decide now is as good a time as any to give up the Mini lifestyle, since I will have to anyway at some point. I don't think a new battery will do it for me. I ended up ordering a 16 Pro, to at least give me some extra nice stuff to help me overcome the size difference... I have been missing a telephoto lens, and I look forward to a better screen.

I'm expecting the regular 17 to be a minor upgrade over 16, so not waiting for that. I was considering waiting for the 17 Air, but given the rumours of higher price and limited features, I don't think it's worth it for me to endure a year with too low battery. Fingers' crossed that I end up liking it. It will be the first time since iPhone X that I'm actually on the latest top of the line phone, so there's that.

Question to large phone owners: I tried running the 13 Mini caseless, but I just felt I had to squeeze it all the time to not drop it, and it hurt my fingers. Would you say the larger models are easier to hold without a case?
