Are you browsing MR forums on said 13 Pro Max while it's copying files over? I know it sounds silly, but my 11 Pro Max heats up like crazy when using MR forums on mobile and it's not just an isolated incident. There's a forum post about this somewhere on here and other users have noticed the same thing. MR forums heats my phone up so badly that I only use them for a few minutes at a time or just use my iPad/Mac to browse the forums. Again, sounds funny, but it could be playing into why it's so hot.
Same here I only use macrumors for a little at a time and close it out asap. I haven’t been on a site m, as far as I can tell, that heats my phone up and drains battery as much as mr forums. I’m convinced it’s chock full of spyware but not sure if it’s just nsa, or another country 🤣😂

I just stumbled onto this thread as I am having this same problem with overheating and it’s ONLY happening while using Safari and mostly on this site. Having said that, I followed the suggestion to download an ad blocker, specifically AdGuard, and the phone cooled down immediately. it was so bad that my phone’s screen would dim down all the way to where I could barely see the screen. Also, the battery was going down quick.

Maybe Apple could integrate ad blocking into their future iOS releases to combat this issue. I bet a lot of phones get returned and replaced for overheating when the problem wasn’t the phone but the ads.

When I read the suggestion to install an AdBlocker so my phone cools down, I thought they were having me on. My reaction when I installed and phone instantly cooled, was disbelief. And I was surprised because it’s really only MacRumors that did it.

Yeah, I guess it probably is a pretty isolated issue if it’s only happening on this site (or any site with similar ads). Either way, I’m glad it was figured out and there’s an easy fix. I was starting to get concerned. I didn’t buy the indexing explanation with how hot it was getting and it was only happening in Safari.

Thanks to everyone who suggested the ad blocker.

the mail running in the background is definitely a bug.. not sure how many people are actually effected.. i had to delete the app. haven’t installed it, rather goto actual website.
