Pointing out the fact it's ridiculous to spend 800+ on a device and not have the ability to charge it without buying something else.

Yes, I spent 40K on a vehicle, and I am required to purchase my own gasoline? s/
welcome to 2021 lol

You don't need to buy magsafe to charge your phone either. Wireless charging has been here for a while

as for portless if we see it this year it will be on the pro line most likely not all phones. if we do see it I'm sure speeds will be faster than what we currently have.

I can’t see a port-less phone being a reality. It’s a hell of a lot of business to turn away and especially as Apple push their music side of the business. The wired headphone market is still huge and Apple are just a small part of the overall musical device industry. Plus Bluetooth headphones still aren’t better than wired as it stands. I can’t see this at all.

Not to mention Apple promoted the recycling of old chargers rather than including one in the box. They probably realised 95% of people weren’t going to use MagSafe. What confused me was why they included a USB-C cable that most people wouldn’t use either?

You don’t think a portless iPhone would come with a magsafe cable in the same way the Apple Watch comes with one? The only thing missing is a brick that we all have multiple of and are cheap for a good quality one.

Additionally if you don’t have wireless charging already, you are missing out.

where I see portless being an issue is for people that use their phone as a tool and need wired accessories where the wireless options aren’t quite as good yet. Ex: external wired mic, recording from an instrument using garage band, etc.

Charging portless is a non issue.

Since Apple refuses to put chargers in the box for enviromental reasons *coughs*, the vast majority of people will have to buy MagSafe to charge their portless iPhone 13.

Now if you think you can use your standard Qi charger with the iPhone 13, I am sure Apple will cripple the charging on standard Qi to force people to buy MagSafe.

You are assuming I wasn’t already planning to go all-in on the MagSafe ecosystem when I finally upgrade from my 8+.

it works with their new 20W fast charger.
I know but the message was green thinking. Use the old charger rather than Apple creating waste by including another one. The vast majority of iPhone users at that point didn’t even own a 20W fast charger. It was a very weird mixed message that sort of contradicting the green message in their keynote.

IF the next iPhone is portless people won’t be taking it from the box and howling in shocked anguish on discovering they need to buy a charger, they’ll already know about it, won’t they? And decided to buy anyway.

I very much doubt many will own MagSafe chargers by then though. The third party market needs to start catching up and producing sensibly priced chargers before this happens. I still plug earphones of various types into my iPhone so a port less version will be utter crap. I’ll make my feelings well known in that if it ever happens.

I'm honestly less worried about using MagSafe which I actually like better or what kinds of headphones to use since I usually listen through the TV, iHome or Car Stereo. I won't get a portless iPhone if I can't use my CarPlay. Hopefully they will make a decent wireless adapter, but if it's from Apple it will be priced out of range.

The portliness iPhone may not be a true portless phone as it will need to support data transfer with things like CarPlay. For this reason, the "portless" iPhone could come with a smart connector or a way to transfer data over MageSafe. I highly doubt Apple will develop a wireless CarPlay adapter.
It's already available.

They have to come up with creative ways to get more money or they will be put out of business. Look at the amount of money they have to pay lawyers.

Then don't.

I have read that those devices can create lag over Bluetooth for audio. And they are expensive. I don’t that is the solution. You will notice that true wireless CarPlay uses a combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. If Apple thought Bluetooth was sufficient then that is what they would have chosen.

I'm by no means an expert in this area but I think it depends what version of Bluetooth we are talking about. The automotive industry moves relatively slowly and while operation may not have been possible without a USB cable in the earlier versions, things may be different now.

If the iPhone 13 has great new features like 120 hz scrolling a bigger Battery. Underscreen Touch ID Then it’s worth the money
I didn’t mention the bells and whistles that are going to be in iOS 15 because it’s not going to be unique to the iPhone 13

I don't think we will see under the screen fingerprint or another form of Touch ID this year with iPhone 13.
Agreed. Now that an apple watch will be able to unlock an iPhone in iOS 14.5, FaceID will live on and Apole gets to sell more watches

I think your right as solid rumours seem to have dried up regarding any form of Touch ID on the 2021 iphones. I hope it happens though and Apple surprises us (at least put it on the Pro models or something), as i desperately miss Touch ID.
