Whether or not a brick was included if someone wanted a faster charger they would buy it. That’s 2 bricks instead of one.
They should include the power adapter for that specific device so the buyer does not need to go out to buy a separate faster charger. I've used every single adapter that came with my phones. If I sold the phone, the adapter goes with it. Apple introducing different power adapters is the source of the issue.

I created a shortcut connected to my apple home outlet switch.. that if I’m connected to Wi-Fi and at home, that it will turn off the outlet switch when my phone hits 90%.. it turns back on if my phone is below 80%
do you mind include some more detail on how to do this? what switch and software you are using?

But from now on (or last year), you don't need to sell a power adapter with the phone, since it didn't come with one.

I don't use adaptive charging because I change shifts every day so my sleep schedule is all over the place. Instead I charge my 12 Pro while I'm taking a shower before bed using a 15W charger, making sure the battery doesn't dip below 20% and that I don't charge it above 80%.
Planning on sticking with that setup for 14 Pro Max as well. Looking forward to being able to take a shower and finish my whole bedtime routine without worrying it's taking too long and that my phone is gonna get to 100%. 😆

Many people do not want a/another faster charger. Especially if they already have one.

And some will prefer to charge less aggressively (also with a charger already owned) as that extends the overall life of your battery.

Good stuff. I have an iPad Pro usb c charger and MagSafe. 30 minute 50% charge from zero is nice.

I have one as well (that also came with my iPad Pro) for times I need to charge more rapidly. Most of the time I use an old Apple 5 or 12 watt charger. I've got a bunch of them, as does my wife.

Except in Brazil (maybe), apple is no longer including the charger. People will adjust. I personally have at least a 12w charger in every room. I’d be okay if apple stopped including the cable ad well.

Just before they stopped including the brick in the box they started including better chargers in the iPhone pro box. Of course the assumption is that every year they’d put the best charger supported by that phone, which this year happens to be 30W.

It’s hard to imagine for people who have had iPhones for years only have one cable and charger. I’m sure there are but my opinion are those people are not the majority.

Not at all. I suspect your battery lifetime will be longer with less aggressive charging.
I suspect any such effect, if it even exists, it will be negligible. What damages the battery is excessive heat, not the charging speed in itself. The phone has temperature sensors and if the heat reaches damaging levels can slow down or even stop charging.

The common denominator brick to charge every iPhone made is 5w. iPad is not sold in the same volume nor do they have the same charging requirements.

5W to 15W to 20W to 30W power adapters. Apple is surely saving the environment and charging back to every customer who buys these adapters separately even after spending $799 - $999+USD (or $1,099+ CDN) for their phones. Total insanity. :(
I don't see this logic of 'charing back customers' at all, existing iPhone users can keep using their power adapter and Lightning cable.
When Apple switches the iPhone with USB-C and probably bundle the USB-C to USB-C cable in the box, then customers will have to buy power adapter with USB-C port or get a USB-C to USB-A cable to go with 5/10/12 watt power adapter.

Or just include the best fast charger possible for an iPhone with no additional cost?

Xiaomi gives user an option to include a first party fast charger in the box at checkout with no addional cost.

That’s very informative and interesting. Is it weird that I continue to use original 5W Apple’s charging adapter to charge my new iPhone 14 Pro Max? 😞😞
Would put the least possible stress on the battery.

If the difference over time is worth it I’m not sure exactly.

But better safe than sorry, I guess.

I use magsafe duo kept on top of my air purifier. Heat is the enemy for batteries, not really the speed/watts. Phone can get toasty with just the regular 18/20w if done without cooling. In the car, it is on a magsafe belkin mount on the AC, display never dims due to active cooling.

That’s what the experts say and I you know it’s true if you’ve ever observed your iPhone while it’s fast charging.

Algorithms and sensors detect overheating and decrease power input after the initial burst of power.

No need to micro manage charging to always sit at a specific charge range or only slow charge.

Plus, most of you are getting an iPhone 15 or 16 anyway and just aren’t getting the battery anywhere near 80% or lower in 1-2 years. No way.

I was exactly looking for this earlier today.

I watched a bunch of YouTube videos about the 13 Pro Max and it didn't seem to make that much of a difference in real life. Going from 20% to 80%, at 80% it was like 5% ahead.

Can someone confirm?

I’ve been charging my iPhone with the 5w Apple charger - it’s plenty for charging slowly overnight & won’t generate as much heat charging. Have a 20w Anker charger for fast charge if ever needed.

I can’t see apple doing that. Did the headphone jack make a comeback on iPhone?

Good for xiaomi customers. Can’t see apple backtracking though.

I chuck mine on the official magsafe charger whenever I want. A year in and my 13 Pro Max was still at 100% battery health. Battery health is a lottery as far as I'm concerned.
