iPhone 14 Pro Max iPhone 14 pro max space black vs deep purple - opinions 1 month in?

I use Otterbox Defender, UAG, or similar rugged case for my last 5 phones. Phone color really makes no difference to me... I get a new phone and put it in the case.... the next time I see the color of the phone is when I trade it in for a newer model.. then I just go... "oh.. completely forgot that it was purple!"
I love the Deep Purple. In the right light, it's a nice, vibrant purple. But in most light (especially indoors) it could pass for grey/black, which is what I like (as I have to wear suits to the office at least once or twice a week, for meetings). To me, it's the perfect blend of fun/interesting and subdued/professional.

No, Otterbox Commuter. I also put a screen protector on it - I like to use mapping s/w on my phone (Gaia GPS) as an adjunct to my regular GPS unit (phone has a bigger screen) and paper maps in the wilderness. And our cats have a bad habit of throwing things off of tables ...

I've dropped my iPhone twice, in the past fourteen years. Once while riding a bicycle because my shorts had really shallow pockets 😡 and once when I was laying down on a bed in the ER (so that one doesn't really count - I was kind of out of it. Lol) ... So, no case for me. AppleCare in case of accidents, but otherwise just be mindful of where the phone is. I like to be able to enjoy the industrial design of my iPhones. Plus, the Pro Max is easier to one-hand when it's not wider due to a case. 👍🏻
I've had silver for a little bit, and then I stuck with space grey for years since the 12 pro came out. Space grey was always my go to choice when it came to updating to new phones with Apple. However, the minute DP came out on the 14 pros, I immediately got myself a 14 pro in deep purple. Purple has always been my favorite color and I have always seen apple coming out with silver, space grey, and gold and sometimes the rose gold (which was way back in the day haha) and I never really liked the rose gold or the silver but I just always went with space grey because it was a nice looking color. But when the standard iPhone 12-13 came out with the purple (can't remember which phone that was), I was a bit jealous because I rather have the Pro, but wished it came in with the purple color instead of either the Green or the pacific blue. To me since I stuck with the space grey for awhile, it got boring to me because I always got the same color — which I'm not mad about at all since it's a classic color — but I just really enjoy that deep purple and this is basically my first 'colored' iPhone that I purchased. I'm also a graphic designer so I can appreciate a good color on the phones! ;-)
Deep Purple is a strange one. I loved it when I first got it, and over a week of using it I became less happy with it, and ended up returning it and getting the gold, which has previously been my favourite.
My partner still has the deep purple, and over the last few weeks it has grown on me to the point that I kinda wish I'd just kept the purple and gotten used to it. I like how sometimes it absorbs light and almost looks black, and other times it's a slight light purple, and other times a really rich purple.
After spending a good deal of time with it, I think it's quite elegant and I miss it.
The three stages of deep purple...
My partner still has the deep purple, and over the last few weeks it has grown on me to the point that I kinda wish I'd just kept the purple and gotten used to it. I like how sometimes it absorbs light and almost looks black, and other times it's a slight light purple, and other times a really rich purple.
After spending a good deal of time with it, I think it's quite elegant and I miss it.

I really like purple color and so deep purple, but at the end of the day I would rather get with something more neutral (black, silver or starlight). I have iPhone 13 PM in alpine green (which is really nice color) but when it comes to cover selections it become really limiting. Don't know how about purple - i liked few combinations from this years colors but imo it is still limiting.

I got Deep Purple and regret it. It’s pretty but I like switching out transparent neon cases and that’s kind of a no-go with this color. I bought the phone outright with a 10% discount and I’m seriously considering buying the white/silver and selling the purple on Swappa and crossing my fingers I won’t take *too* much of a loss on it. I know I shouldn’t be so petty about a color but I am 🤷♀️
Phone color isn't a life or death factor for me. I wouldn't consider it worth the hassle of setting up a new device, but YMMV.

I understand that colors are not that important to most people, but to me it’s what gives the phone its personality and in a way also expresses my own.
Yesterday my wife got herself a brand new iPhone 14 pm, 1TB, deep purple.
So now I finally have them both in my hands and can do a fair comparison.
She said that she’ll just take the phone that I don’t pick, as colors don’t matter much to her, so now I’m comparing apples to apples and have a great choice.
I’ve used the purple iPhone since yesterday, but I’m not convinced that it’s right for me.
Does anybody else feel that the purple is a little “meh”? In most indoor situations it is mainly grey, with a touch of purple.
Like it can’t make up its mind what color it is, but not in a good way, like the Pacific blue 12 PM.
Maybe I just have to get used to it.. but I have a feeling that I will go back to my “old” space black.
Any similar experiences out there? Or does the deep purple just have to “grow on me” and then I will appreciate it?

Yea I haven't seen Purple in person, but it seems like you said in pics. It's like PB and MG where you only see the color nice in bright light. I wish they would ever give the Cosmic Orange or Blue like they've been showing in pics
I picked up DP yesterday as it showed up at the apple store here in my area. Less than 20 minute of opening it up. I just couldnt do it. I boxed it up today and returned it. For me its a ‘meh’ color. If it had a different shade of purple then that might change my opinion on it but for now DP for me is 🤮

What silicone case looks better with space black 14 Pro? Midnight or Storm Blue?
I bought the Space Black for myself, and Purple for my fiancé. Both are nice colors, but I’ve always had black iPhones and I’m glad I stuck with it. Not that it matters, we both use cases anyway.
I always had black phones until the Note 8. I got Orchid Grey for that one and then the bronze for the Note 20. So when I decided to go to the iPhone, I gave it a lot of thought. I actually missed early ordering it because I couldn't decide on the color. I chose the purple and have no regrets. The phone stays in an Apple Silicone case anyway, but the purple camera against the black looks really nice to me. I like the color of the phone.
As with all colors it’s a question of personal taste and use, but to me the Storm blue looks better than the Midnight case (silicone). But that is mainly because the Midnight silicone case attracts a lot of dust, fingerprints, oil stains etc.
Of course, the Storm blue is probably not much better, but it looks better (in my eyes) because it’s a lighter color, and therefore you don’t notice it as much.
That being said, if you go for a leather case, the Midnight case looked great on the space black iPhone 😎
Thanks for your input. I’m glad to hear that there are those who enjoy the Deep purple iPhone too (there are probably loads of you out there) - I’m just not sure that it’s for me.
