Same. I'm in need of a new phone, and given that the camera is one of (if not the) most important things to me, I'm curious how the 13PM and Pixel 6 Pro will stack up against each other.
Yea, I have no doubts it will do better at night, seeing what gcam can do on a midrange Android is nuts, my handheld shots are really good, when I put it on a tripod it’s hard to tell them from an actual DSLR. I also recently tried shooting lightning pics with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and it sucked, no matter what I did it would just brighten up the sky and eliminate all traces of the lightning bolts. Whereas the Android with gcam would show the bolts bright and clear just as if you’d have used a dedicated camera.
I’m hoping they put a lot of time into further refining nightsight and Astro mode with the new sensor. Along with it working on the tele lens. If so it’s gonna be super impressive.

iPhone 14 Series will bring “notable” and “considerable” changes to design over the iPhone 13 Series which will unveil next year. iPhone 14 Series will have four models which may name as iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max. There will no mini model in 2022. Apple have plans to use LTPS OLED display for at least one model of iPhone 14 Series which would still stick to 60Hz display, while other three models will use LTPO OLED displays with 120Hz variable refresh rate by LG.

As per report claims iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will use 6.06inch display, where iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max will come with a larger 6.8inch display. iPhone 14 Series will feature punch-hole display for Pro models – iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max while the other models will keep notch. Ross Young with his recent supply chain suggests that 2022 iPhone Pro models will feature under-screen Face ID, while other models keep Touch ID for security.

2022 iPhone Pro Models could use titanium built chassis design and Pro Max is rumoured to feature round buttons on the side.

Finally :) still on the 8 Plus the 14 is the change for me something fully different

So many changes in one generation, doubt it. Considering upgrading from my 7+ this year. Then maybe the under display face id, touch id and their own modem design is ready for my next upgrade around iPhone 16.

If the rumors are true, then the iPhone 13s are the last and most perfected version of the current style right now. Something to think about before jumping in on new everything.

I got the 13 because it's always better to skip the first new big hardware change. So bring it on iPhone 15
Exactly this. Thats usually my strategy as well. This year though, I decided to join the upgrade program option. I'm hoping for a sub 165gram device then Ill upgrade.

I did hear the 13 had some counter weight measures but never made it to production in time, so they just used the colors.

I upgraded to the 13 pro from the 12 mini . The 13 pro is a great phone and definitely worth it for some . But for me I decided to keep
The mini 12 or get the 13 mini because after selling the 12 the cost for the 13 mini won’t be that much. Then upgrade to
The pro next year

Jesus, some people can’t be happy. people for years complained about the poor battery life iPhones gave. they finally gave us fantastic battery. who’s cares if it’s heavier that’s how batteries works bigger battery more weight. I love my 13 PROMAX I have a mous infinity case and wallet on must be close to 400 grams in total. Not an issue for me.. don’t you remember when apple just wanted thinner garbage every year? And they got to the point, where you could easily snap the phone or bend it. I think they may go a slight bit thicker in 2022 and use titanium to offset the weight as it’s much lighter than stainless steel. I would take better battery life over a cheap feeling thin phone.

First time I ever heard titanium called cheap feeing thin material and our company uses it every day. Good thing the FDA feels differently as well and millions of customers in the medical field. Please share source where we can acquire it cheap as it’s very expensive…why do you think Apple uses sst lol…

I never had problem with the 12PM and never used it up in one day and never complained about it, so thank god I didn’t need to upgrade to an heavy over bloated phone for battery life!

hopefully we get some more leaks on the redesign of the 14..can’t wait

Yea the colors are atrocious right now, they need to bring back black phones, white would be nice as well, and they can keep selling the Barbie colors for those that want them.

My biggest gripes right now though is the notch, and the cameras. If they can fix those two things I may just go back to the iPhone, but right now I do not have much faith. With all the hype about the improved cameras in the 13 pro’s I finally got a chance to test my midrange Android phone out against one. The macro mode is cool and a welcome addition, I can’t really tell a difference in daytime shots from an 11 to the 13’s, it’s in lowlight where you can really see a difference. To my surprise, the night shots in the 13’s looks about the same to me as it did one the 11’s or the 12’s, and my Android phone took noticeably better night shots. Better detail, better colors, and none of the muddiness that seems to show up in the iPhone images. All of this has me wondering how this can be considering the 13 pro series has bigger sensors, and supposedly takes in 2.2 times more light than a iPhone 12 Pro Max? Is it the software? Is it because Apple has stuck to 12 mp year after year? Although the lower megapixel count should result in better lowlight capability on paper. So I’m thinking it has to be software related? Or is Apple using inferior sensors? It’s baffling, with all of Apples money I’d think they could team up or hire some of the best minds in the photography industry to produce the best cameras in the smartphone world. But for some reason it just doesn’t seem to be a priority for them.
Makes me wonder what the latest flagship Android phones can do considering how good mine is, it came out a year ago and is a 699 dollar midrange phone. I wish Google would hurry up and release the pixel 6, very interested to see if they made any improvements to night and Astro mode now that they finally went with bigger, newer sensors.

Care to post these comparison photos? This mid grade Android phone of yours have a name? I'd be curious to see your definition of "noticeably better".

We aren't comparing "cameras" we are comparing the software anyway. Using a app like Halide will allow you to capture images natively the way you prefer them.

I could be wrong but I believe it was 2.2x better low light performance. This is based on physical aperture size like any camera.

Apple sticks with 12mp because its a very good consumer camera resolution. 4k (8mp) video recording is exceeded for electronic stabilization without resolution loses. 12mp (4000x3000) resolution exceeds most consumer displays. 12mp can be edited in real time without hanging up the system or killing the battery (double the MP and you double the work required to transcode to JPG. The file storage size is reasonable (double the MP and potentially double the file size). You can still get good prints up to 12"x16". Etc etc. Its not the limiting factor to photos quality so why improve it.

Sensors are larger which physics demand the phone be thicker to obtain the focal length from the lens required. People are complaining about this but it is what it is, can't want a better sensor and want a thinner device at the same time.

If the next iPhone has some sort of ultra high megapixel its going to be used for software processing somehow 8000x6000 photos seem like a bit of overkill. Imagine the lossy compression SMS will do to that while trying to send a simple text message!

Exactly this. I will most likely skip the 14, let it 'mature' a little, before they refine it in the 15....
I generally try to keep to the 's' models if I can.....

I wasn’t calling titanium cheap. I said they will use it to offset the weight! I was calling the past iPhone cheap feeling like the 6. thin cheap nasty feeling vs the new stainless steel iPhones. and if you even bothered to read my post i said I think they will make the iPhone even thicker next year but use titanium to offset weight.

iPhone price didn't raise this year, despite costing 20$ more to produce. I expect a price hike with iPhone 14..
