Since that '07 game-redefining device, I have owned every iteration of iPhone - save the 7 & 8. And every year, I choose the black/space gray/etc. offering. This year, for the first time, I am not going to go that route. Instead, I am going to try the Natural Titanium 15 Pro. Pretty curious to turn a new leaf with regards to my handheld aesthetic. Should be fun. Old dog, new tricks?
Now if I were getting an iPhone 15, I'd likely go with black - tho that blue (wait, that's blue?!?) might be in the running. But overall, I'm not a fan of pastel color palettes in general. And Apple's is no different. Pastels are so tepid, non-committal. I think a wise man once said "be a color or don't." 😂 That said, Apple are color trendsetters. I fully expect to see a slew of home appliances coming in pastels in 2024.
Anyway, color is a completely crazy thing to try and select off a screen. I work with color, daily. Adn for something liek this, you really do have to see it in person, in-hand, to truly know (case in point - that iPhone 15 color option is blue, not white). That's why I think it would be awesome (in the days between Keynote and pre-sale window opening) if Apple Stores had demo units on-hand so we could be check them out and placer-orders for launch day devices with more confidence Ethan we might today. Taking a page from Apple's push toward carbon reduction, it would be more enviro-friendly to order once, with confidence, than potentially ordering, not liking (say) a color, then shipping the device back to Apple and then having them ship a new device. And I do not think making demo units available between keynote and pre-order window opening, would have any adverse effect on sales. If anything, it might work to increase sales as people could get their hand son the new phones, get excited, etc. But whatever - Apple seems to be doing pretty well with things the way they are. 🤪
