Well… yeah. I do not for a second believe that the majority thinks like me on this 🤷‍♂️

If they did, Apple would have likely reversed course and/or invested in different solutions already.

I would also not let the bump keep me from buying the phone if I needed a new one this year.

Exactly. The bump may annoy some people in a way that they won‘t buy a new iPhone, but falling behind other manufacturers in camera quality would be way more detrimental to iPhone sales. Because in the grand scale of things, almost all functions of a modern smartphone are basically perfect already … except for the camera quality.

Phones will always be limited due to their width when compared to a dedicated camera though. Smartphone cameras are impressive for what they are and get slightly better each year, but the size of the glass, and limitations in their width when trying to implement better optics will always make them lack somewhat. I know the software is very good with its clever fakery with pixel duplication etc, but when you zoom in on a picture, the quality is quickly apparent. Decent enough for a pocket shooter though as we all know and does the job for social media.

Another year enjoying my 13 Pro Max
For me I’m sure the best option currently of the pipeline is picking 13 pro max (refurbished in Apple Store). However, the big fail for me is its volume (because of square edges) and weight (near 150 gr). If they manage to get same battery (or better with a17) and screen reducing size and weight thanks to titanium, sorry but 15 pro max is the way to go for all people waiting for a manageable model since 11 pro max. And remember usb-C!! Really looking forward to that beast :)

And by the way, 14 pro max from 13 pro max was the most incremental iphone change that I remember. 48mpx main camera with worst results in majority of typical cases due to aperture, dynamic island almost a gimmick 7 months after without apple implementing new features and AOD with crazy power consumption.

Can you show the worse results in a majority of typical cases? I don’t find that in my case. The pictures come out really well for me. AOD doesn’t have much of a crazy power consumption especially now with the ability to not use your wallpaper. Also, I wouldn’t consider the dynamic island a gimmick. It’s been quite useful and more apps have started to support it recently.

Just wondering where you got all this info from unless you’re speaking from long term personal experience.

Having said that, I’m really excited for the 15 pro max too. Seems like it’s gonna have a lot of nice upgrades!

I very much doubt many with a 13 Pro Max would have switched to the 14 Pro max for the minor updates anyway. The £150 price increase would have put people off too. The 13 Pro Max is still a very capable phone and I have no desire whatsoever in upgrading this year, totally unnecessary.

I think I'm more interested in the regular iPhone at this point, I just can't with the camera bump any more.

Any rumours if that will be getting the skinner bezels? I know it is rumoured to get the dynamic island.

Per Ice Universe’s tweet in the OP, the regular iPhone 15s are supposed to get the same bezel size as the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Yep, great device. Currently bought a 13 PM for my mum from the Apple refurbished store here in the UK. Surprised that this model was available here so soon on the refurb store. Back in Florida never really ever see last years models on the Apple refurb store less than 12 months in.

I have read a lot of reviews and DXOmark in results chart give only minor advantage to 14 PM from 13 PM. However 13 PM was a big leap forward from older models. Beside this, 48mpx marketing can be only used in raw mode with pictures using large amounts of storage and sacrificing some light performance.

Apart from that, I had 14 PM during 1 week and I returned it at the end. The main reason was the increased weight and uncomfortable feel when holding due to square shape.

No filtration until now has give any approach in weight savings due to titanium use. Do you have any estimation?

It’s a good buy that’s for sure, holds its own against any current phone out there and should be at a decent price by now .

Cost me more than what I paid for the iPhone 14 PM back in USA. 😭 around 949£ currency converted it to over $1200 for a 13PM with 256GB storage. I guess for “only” $300 or so dollars more I could have got the 14PM here in the UK.

Taking into account apple watch series 7 specs, titanium weight is just in the middle between aluminum and SS, so comparing 14 plus and 14PM (without forgetting more complex camera module and its added weight) we can expect a reduction in weight of 20-30gr, so near 11 PM again…

There’s Americans on here that won’t believe you and whenever I complain about prices I am told we actually get our iPhones cheaper if we pretend we don’t pay VAT .
