At the same time, with optimized charging my macbooks show less health % over time - turning it off seems to recalibrate battery again. Once it was 91% and after a while went to 97%. So i am hesitant to use it.
I’ve seen the same. What I’ve taken it to mean is that part of optimized charging is the system pretending that the max battery capacity is lower than it actually is. Recalibrating what is reported as 100% charge to something lower than the battery’s current physical limit to extend the usable life of the battery. Which makes sense as charging a battery close to its limit every time is what will break down the chemistry the fastest.

I wish people could understand that batteries are very analog components in a digital device. Your actual mileage may vary due to a near infinite number of variables, especially if you are comparing multiple devices side by side in some sort of synthetic test. The measure should be if a device delivers enough battery capacity to accomplish what you need it to do within a single charge period. Period.

And all the people who have accessories with lightning connectors (docks, etc) now have to replace them. So yay to the EU for promoting more consumerism.
That band-aid has to come off one way or the other. Lightning accessories in perpetuity isn’t the answer.

iPhone 15 Pro crushes the 14 Pro in significant ways:
  • Lighter: Yes. It's about time.
  • Camera: Really introduces features that matter. Smart portrait mode. 120mm zoom mode. 24 mpix high-res standard photos. 48 is too big for many applications. Improved stabilization. This is a camera upgrade that matters, and it makes this new phone worth getting.
  • Action button looks really useful. One-click access to the camera? Yeah.
  • Rounded edges. So Apple listened to--or heard--the complaints about how uncomfortable these flat-edged, heavy phones are/were. About time.
There's more. But the 15 Pro is on my buy list. What were your takeaways?
All your points are great. I am so glad about 15 Pro Max is significantly lighter than the 14 Pro Max which makes it light material short/gym short friendly when it is in the pocket - freeing the wearer of the short from potential wardrobe malfunction🤣 as I experienced it. With 14 Pro Max in my light material/gym short pocket, it always pulled my short down which always caused me worrying on wardrobe malfunction and having to readjust the shirt many times. Big thanks to Apple!
