By the way, is anyone else concerned about the heating issues and back glass durability of the pro max? I was excited about getting the pro max but after seeing so many people reporting issues, it's hard to ignore the blatant flaws of pro max. Is it really worth getting a flawed product? Apple might fix the overheating issue by reducing the logic board performance in a software update but that would definitely affect even the image processing let alone intense gaming performance.

Yes I'm concerned too. But I read that the overheating only appears in specific apps, like instagram. I had a nice logic game on my XR which drained my battery and overheated my phone like no other application. I wrote a review and the developer accepted it that something is wrong in the application. I get a lot of updates from iOS 17 launch, I think the applications will be fixed in the future and not Apple will limit the CPU performance. Also we could check it with geek bench score after next updates.

The back glass durability is a little bit terrifying also, but I will use a case anyway (Spigen Ultrahybrid) and I will not plan to sit on my phone or hammer a nail into the wall with it. :D

The dilema is... if you wait until end of October to order, and with the shipping delays being up to 2mths... then theoretically we'll be getting our phones end of Jan 2024. At that point you are only 9 months away from the next iphone... which is supposed to be 'THE ONE'. The current iPhone 15 is just minor improvements on previous years, not the next big thing.

That is always the case that next one will be the 'THE ONE'. But it again depends on from where you are upgrading and are you okay to wait for it because technically new iphone will be announced in Sep and you will be ordering in Oct end (F&F discount) and it will be delivered next year Jan. So this cycle will never end. Also i believe once we are near to Oct, shipping delays will not be there. Last 2-3 years, when it comes to Friends and Family discount most of people got their devices within week so i think it will be same this year as well

I have a XS MAX right now. And was excited about getting the 15 PRO MAX from my Apple friend. But I guess I’ll take a 13 PRO MAX instead. I heard a lot that this was THE ONE …

I know, it is very annoying. I also agree with @ranjanr, this cycle will keep on going. However, you do not need to wait for it to ship, especially if you only have a storage upgrade for multiple types of storage (idk if they have 2tb for pro max tho) as your closest apple stores will most likely have it in store, and you can order it and pick it up, almost right away. But, if you need an upgrade other than storage, you have to wait for the factory to ship it to your house or to your nearest apple store for you to pick up (from where i live, it only takes two weeks to come from the factory when i got my MacBook).

The folks in here are waiting for the EPP discount - even if your local store has them in stock it does not mean that EPP will allow a local pickup (or ship) at this time with the latest information.

i know that, i am waiting too. but a month ago i used my friends EPP to get something, and my friend that works at apple told me that piece of information i posted before.

I can confirm that „pick up in Apple Store“ is possible with „friends and family EPP“ orders … not yet with the 15 pros nonetheless

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone is aware of whether the Friends & Family discount allows for payment to be spread across multiple months, similar to what's mentioned on their website. Or is the Friends & Family discount typically a one-time payment?

Thanks in advance :)

My company provides Apple EPP and it doesn’t show the option for monthly payments, so I would assume it’s the same for Apple F&F. Someone can corroborate this if they know for sure.

What's weird is this year's iPhone 15 & plus got the most upgrade in the 15 series, can confirm that if you reading tech reviews, yet the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro max with all these problems of durability and heating is in extremely high demand. While iPhone 15 and plus models are open for Friends&Family discount and available immediately.

Do people just have too much cash on hand and just wanting the best iPhones period?

Could you please confirm if trade-in works with the F&F discount?

You pretty much answered it yourself....it's for the better display and camera, also the cash thing :p Apple is certainly pushing people to opt for the Pro max this year

They have announced that the overheating concerns are not a hardware issue - they are due to a combination of software bugs leaving the CPU in an over-utilized state. Fixes are coming shortly to both iOS and apps where bugs have been identified (e.g., instragram, uber, et all). Also, you will note that there haven't actually been any reports of Pro Max phones breaking outside of tests where people are trying to break them. So, I think people are largely ordering what they want without too much concern.

You seem to believe what Apple is claiming heh? Remember the time when Apple claimed you're holding the phone wrong? ;) Even if it's a hardware issue, Apple won't admit it at least not right away, they will try to resolve it with software first. A hardware fault is a disaster for the iPhone sales.

Sorry to derail this thread as the quality of iPhone is a complete off-topic, there are plenty of discussion on the heating and durability of the iPhone 15 pro/max.
Lets continue on when will we be getting the F&F discounts for the Pros

editing to remove my initial snarky reply: No need to trust Apple, benchmarks will expose any sort of thermal throttling in seconds if Apple releases a patch that throttles the CPU instead of fixing their alleged bugs.

Anyway, back to the topic on hand - I would speculate that until you see plenty of models in your local apple stores (most of the pros and maxes are now OOS in my area), we will continue to wait for EPP.
