I plan to upgrade my 15 Pro to the 16PM. I made a mistake in downsizing from the 14 PM. I 100% love the smaller form factor, but the battery life on this thing just does not last. I don’t CarPlay—I just listen to music and podcasts and browse Reddit while I work my desk job. Almost always I’m 39% by this time each afternoon which means daily top-ups to get through a full day. Battery life feels comparable to the Pixel 4XL and that was 5 years ago! Battery health is 92% and it’s dropped 5% last month alone. These 15 Pros feel like they don’t have the longevity of the 11 and 13 series, for example. IDK, back to the Pro Max for me—my spouse will happily take my 15 pro and run it until it dies
I agree with you, I never had a PM but 15p battery suck!

After reading the comments I have to add up that: indeed the screen of my iPhone became very dark when I try to use it in a location with the temperature of about 41 C or 105 F. Usually I turn off all the apps and functions running in the background that I don't use. I do not observe unusual heating of the phone and the battery discharges much slower that with with this procedure. I charge the battery only to 80%. So far no degradation in its capacity after a few months.

Mines doing well. Use it every day and had it since day 1.

Loving my 15PM - bought in Dec 2023 (right before New Years), replaced my 13 Pro. First time going with a Pro Max / Plus size phone - the change in weight to titanium was the first time it crossed the "subjective threshold" for me where the phone didn't feel too heavy in my hand.

Still 100% battery health, 131 cycles. I have a 35min commute to work daily, and with Wired Carplay every time, I rarely need to charge my phone otherwise. Consistently between 40% (most it gets down to by the end of the workday) and ~90%, without any use of the limiter.

I will echo that I definitely feel the phone get hot at times. I actually notice it the most when I'm updating apps - I often batch-update like 40+ app updates at once ("Update All" in App store...) and it gets warm enough, I put it down to let it finish.

I also almost never use the Action Button. I have it set to silence my phone, and need it rarely (eg. in a movie theater, or sitting down in an in-person meeting).

I’ve had my 15 Pro for three months and have kept 80% Charging Limit on. I usually do wireless charging with an Anker fast-charging powerbank and I’m still at 100% with 111 Cycles.

Almost the same here. Was at 100% for more than half a year and then degraded quite quickly over the last (summer) months to now 94%…
I suspect the truth is that when it said 100% for so long, it was not really 100%, and then suddenly for some reason it drops to a more accurate percentage?

you can literally use any Type-C charger
I don't know how it is with USB-C iphones, but my USB-C Ipad will not charge with my standard USB-C cable that works on several other devices including an android phone--I have to use the cable that came with the Ipad.
Maybe the author needs to “upgrade” to iPhone 14 or below series with clearly superior lightning port. 🤣
All things considered, the lightning port was the best charging cable I've ever used. But I don't really care much what type of cable is used to charge my phone. Lightning and USB-C are both essentially "proprietary" to me since you must find a specific cable for your specific device, and USB-C is not universal with all its "this one is only for monitors, this one is only for charging, this one is only for data, this one doesn't work on ipads, and you have to guess which one you are using at any given moment" distinctions, it often *more* confusing.

The odd thing to me is users claiming they have a preference for the charging cable for their phone. Generally, I couldn't care less what is on the end of my plug. Though I look forward to USB-C across upcoming Apple products just because they should be consistent across products, no matter what cable they choose.

The one positive thing about USB-C to me is that wired headphones will work again, as you can stick Apple's $9 USB-C to 3.5mm headphone converter on the end of your headphone cable and plug in real headphones, whereas with lightning, only "approved devices" using Apple's proprietary handshake worked.

Battery in my iPhone 15 Pro is still at 100% after a year of use. Having the max charge at 80% has helped a lot.
Is it really getting 100% battery life if you're only using 80% of it to begin with?

If battery life is 10 hours, and regular users are still getting over 9 hours but you only get 8, how is that a benefit?

That option has always made me scratch my head...

I always slow-charge to preserve battery life, but I've never understood why I should restrict myself to 80% of my battery with this setting. Is it something you plan on turning off one day? To release a bunch of stored up battery life in an older device?

I still use battery cases on my iphones... thats the ultimate battery saver!

Probably having a higher battery capacity when you’re going to sell the phone for a newer one?

15 ProMax - I've been running in Late October last year and limit to 80% charging unless I have some reason I need to top to 100%. I use my phone quite a lot, but that's kept my cycle count down (225) and my battery is at 97% capacity. Been a robust phone. No regrets at all. (Came from an Xr... so it was quite the upgrade... but I help family with 12s, 13s, and recently got my wife a 14 pro).

That seems silly. Just buy a wireless charger for the office.

I’m ready to be done with my 15 Pro Max. The battery life has turned to crap. Bought it at launch, it’s got 91% battery health after 272 cycles. But I can’t get a full work day out of it.

It works for people who are not using 100% of their battery charge every day anyway. That extra 20% is part of the charge range that isn’t being used anyway. There is no downside to not charging that high and potential benefit if it puts less strain on the battery.

For days when you think you will use more than 80% charge you can switch to normal mode and get that extra 20%. or plug in to a charger to top off since I have them nearby most of the time.

With all the complaints about battery life in this thread, I’m happy with my 13 mini at 87%.
My sister has a 13 Promax and she is at 80 percent. So, you are correct! AGREE!

Heavey users will have worse stats, how often, what apps and video chats, etc.

Love my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Reduced weight, camera and battery life are all fantastic.

Why are people so obsessed with battery health percentage? I’ve never checked once or cared in the slightest. The battery gets me through the day and then some, and that’s all the matters. I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t, unless you‘re constantly streaming video over cellular or something.

We all know lithium batteries degrade over time. Big deal, you can replace it fairly cheaply if it ever gets too low. It‘s just another number/ spec for people to complain about. RAM, refresh rate, battery health, etc. The reality is none of these make a big difference to the experience of using the phone.

My iPhone 15 Plus battery is still at 99 percent and the charge lasts longer than any other iPhone 15 family device - regardless of what Apple may say. I have no need for AI so I have no reason to “upgrade.”
